Do you guys believe in the 2012 the end of days?

People have been claiming the world is going to end soon for thousands of years: http://www.abhota.info/end1.htm

There is never any evidence for those claims.

Fortunately, the world doesn't listen to the ramblings of lunatics, and keeps not ending.

Today, it's possible to get rich off books, DVDs, and web site ads, providing a compelling reason to fuel end-times hysteria.

In reality, the world will end in 4-5 billion years, when the sun turns into a red giant.

If you're susceptible to belief in, well, nonsense like "end of the world" scares, There is something wrong with your thought process. either you give credence to claims without any evidence, or you have flawed standards of evidence. In either case, you owe it to yourself to read Carl Sagan's "the demon-haunted world" to prevent this kind of thing from happening again.

Can you quote the Mayans' exact prophecy for me?

I don't believe in the 2012 doomsday theory, because it is based off of the ending of an ancient civilization's calendar. Life isn't waiting for some Indiana Jones-esque doomsday just because a handful of nuts think that the Mayans ended their calendar in 2012 because of some psychic abilities.

The Mayans never prophesied anything. try finding the exact text of their prophecy online and you'll see what I mean.

I really don't know. maybe, maybe not. my dad says we're going to the mountains, since we live in Washington, it'll be easy. I guess he thinks there won't be as much of a chance for us to get hurt or something. for me, I'm a little towards it not happening. A couple months ago I was like really scared of it, but we don't even know when and if it's going to happen. you gotta live life day by day, nothing else you can do. (:

Not one bit…read the book of Revelation…that will tell you that we have at least 1,008 years to go. but that takes into consideration the Great Tribulation, and the Millennial Kingdom of Christ.

No. It is just the Mayan calendar has a change in age. Thats all. Plus it has a lot to do with profiteering.

i don't know what to believe but that 2012 movie scared the hell out of me
i'm not looking foward to it

No, i am not a moron.

No, that's just silly.

no and how many times has this question been asked

Can you quote the Mayans' exact prophecy for me?

Do you guys believe in the 2012 the end of days?

Do you think the Mayan Calendar which ends 2012, Science and Biblical Prophecy?

Could be a clue on a major Climatic event to happen?
Science warns us that the end of 2012 the Sun will be at it's most active Peak ever (Susnpots exploding) which is on sites like Nasa, new Scientist..the Mayans who studied the Sun also predicted a Catastrophe with the Sun in 2012
Your thoughts?

from what i understand it had nothing to do with the sun. i dont think anything will happen with the sun. one current thought is that an asteroid is heading for us and will hit us in 2012. others believe that is when prophecies in revelations will happen. in my opinion its going to be another Y2K. everyoen so excited for the end for no reason.

Haven't studied it enough to have an informed opinion, but I'm not really concerned about it either…If it is the end, fine, I've lived a full life, if not then perhaps it will be, as some claim, the beginning of a new era…We'll see when it gets here…

Let it blow, I hope it does it quickly

I could be mistaken… but the mayan calendar ends in 2012… and they didn't survive long enough to make a new one… that date is not biblical.

We go through phases of sunspot activity every few years… and no apocolypse yet…

Nyaggghh!
It's just an alignment of stars and stuff! it falls in the same category as a planetary alignment or solar eclipse! interesting astronomical curiosity!

Of course the Mayans 'predicted' it. they were obsessed with astronomy! they studied the movement of astral bodies and were able to extrapolate when everything would line up. It's only mathematics.

EDIT:
Other cultures also noted this because other cultures also observed the cosmos.

The Mayan calendar lines up with the time the Earth is in perfect alignment with the center of the Universe.

Past that….we have no clue what it brings. Could be a photon blast from the center, could make our poles shift in turn flipping the earth, it might create a gravity wave that pulls asteroids into the Earth, it could be related to Jesus returning, and it can relate to about 15 other things.

About 20 cultures, languages and items all point at this date….not just Mayan.

No the Mayans never could have known anything like that silly.

People have always been predicting the "End is Near". Eventually someone will be right, but I won't worry about 2012 any more than 2007. However, it will always be handy to know how to survive during a catastrophe and have some food and water for at least 3 days stored up at home.

The Mayans knew nothing about Jesus (that I'm aware), so they wouldn't have based their calendar on BC/AD, or nowadays, BCE/CE. So they wouldn't have that turning point at 0. So the number 2012 must be based on some other point.

Is it possible that the sun will explode in 2012? Sure, anything's possible. But your evidence doesn't support that claim.

that's not Biblical. we know that the earth will end roughly 1007 years post rapture (all Christians are gone), but since the rapture hasn't happened yet, I know for sure that the Earth will not end in 2012.

if there's a catastrophe with the sun and balls of fire rain down, boo-hoo. But I'm skeptical that will happen.

5 more years? I doubt it.

Did you know that many christians believed the world would end in the year 1000 AD?

Whereever they took it from, it seems that numbers have a certain magic to the people. the year 1000 turned out to be a year like every other one, and the year 2012 likely will be the same. If a maya astronomer would have lived to the year 2012, he probably would find that the count of his calendar has come to an end, and either start counting anew or make a calendar reform. I don't think he'd jump from a bridge.

Well, they may have been right but may be wrong. God does show us things in the stars, etc. Astronomy is a good thing to study. it was astronomers who followed the star over Bethlehem, and it represented that a King of Israel is being born. So, it does mean something.

But the Word of God being published/ preached in all nations is getting close to being fulfilled. So, then the rapture, then the beast & false prophet reign, then the wrath of God on the earth, then the Christ reign for a millinium. then the final Great White Throne Judgment…

Seems to me that 2012 is too soon for a sun blow up. Maybe a minor blow up. it has had some recent minor sun blow ups and has triggered some of the lately natural disasters & weather.

Sunspot activity doesn't mean the end of the world. Sunspots are a not a 'catastrophe' for the sun. even if it there is a large magnetic storm, the worst effect it would have on us is an interruption in communication technologies.

Well, if that has a corelation with the bible, then the sun is supposed to change from the perspective of those on Earth.

29"Immediately after the distress of those days
" 'the sun will be darkened,

So if that means that the sun itself changes I suppose you have something.

I think that it is very interesting that certain things point to that. Everyone seems to think that all the happenings will be in the atmosphere. Especially the Global Warming people. they do not seem to want to point to the sun heating itself for whatever reason.

The world will not end December 21, 2012.

Even if the seven-year tribulation period was to begin tomorrow (03/13/07), seven years would bring us to the year 2019.

From the end of the tribulation period, the world will continue on through the seven last plagues and the Millennium (a thousand years), to finally be destroyed after the battle of Gog and Magog.

Wow reading some of these answers that are using science and astrology seem logical. But since when has logic been warm, comforting, and loving. It's cold hard facts.

I prefer the Biblical reference to the end of the world than the astrological one. in my dictionary the definition of astrology is –
A pseudoscience claiming divination by the position of the planets and sun and moon.

Pseudoscience? – an activity resembling science but based on fallacious assumptions.

Divination is what God told us NOT to pratice because it would bring about evil and destruction. He told us not to trust in it or use it.

Divination – the art or gift of prophecy{or the pretense of prophecy} by supernatural means.

Hence, foretelling or fortune telling. just plain luck. which to me means by chance and NOT accurate. And IMO love has nothing to do with it. And I will choose love over chance and logic anytime. it is warmer and more comfortable and and according to the Holy Bible it will win over evil. :o ) So, I don't pay any attention to specific dates. Oh, and by the way the Bible also states that Jesus said, "there will be a new heavens and earth in which rightousness will prevail." And before that Jesus will call up His people to meet him in the clouds. from every corner of the earth and heaven. So, we will not feel the effects of the end of the world. Everyone & thing will be new. If we follow Jesus Christ now we are being altered already for that day. this is what I believe about any prediction including the year 2012. And any scientific prediction also. who made the earth? God almighty thru Jesus Christ. who better to know about the science of it than him? He put language in us and the reason and logic to begin with. But being the Maker, he knows more than His creation. :o ]^

Do you think the Mayan Calendar which ends 2012, Science and Biblical Prophecy?

Is the concept of "21st dec 2012- END OF THE EARTH" real?

It is said that earth is going to be destroyed on the above date. is it a rumor or Truth?

No. Very little of what comes from the human mind is 'real'.

its rumor god says there is at least 1007 years left

That is merely one interpretation of one ancient myth, and merely one of many predictions of the end of the world.

It gives me some comfort to know that so far, not even ONE of the previous end of the world predictions has come true, so I doubt this one will!

you would really believe a dead civilization's calender? they also believed the sun would die if they quit sacrificing to it

Yes, it's the truth. You should abandon all hope and give me all your stuff.

for someone to tell you if thats true, you would have to be able to see the future, and as far as i know no one truly is psychic and can tell the future

The end of the earth has been forecast many many many times before. No one really knows when that will happen. so to answer your question NO, no one knows the day or time, except God.

Is atheism real?

NOOOOO
same with that

No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father (God). [Matthew 24:36]

They ask thee (O Muhammad) about the (final) hour when will be its appointed time? say: the knowledge thereof is with my Lord (alone): none but he can reveal as to when it will occur. heavy were its burden though the heavens and the earth. only, all of a sudden will it come to you. they ask thee as if thou wart eager in search thereof: say: the knowledge thereof is with God (alone), but most men know not. [Quran, 7:187]

It is rumor. The idea is based off several things which don't add up: the end of the Mayan calendar; an alignment of stars and planets that has actually happened before; the unending need of humankind to be the last people in existence.

You bet it is true!

I can arrange to take care of your belongings after that date!

(I'm joking… I hope you get it! American Christians are very gullible!)

God is the only one who knows the exact time all we can do is look for signs

No, it is no more real the a belief in faeries, Demons, Spirits, or Gods.

Rumour. Don't believe the movie.

They couldn't predict the end of their own civilization, so what makes you think they could accurately predict the end of the world?

Don't worry about it. Every day is a new day in Life. Look toward living and Live. whatever disappears or dies will be missed as much as you miss the clippings of your hair and nails since the day you were born. As for the loved ones we have missed, they are not gone, just obscured from view in the spirit of Life.

not according to the bible

3 1/2 years before Messiah arrives to prevent the destruction of all life on earth (matthew 24:22) via ww3 He will send 2 prophets 1 being like elijah (malachi 4:5-6 / matthew 3:1-3) to prepare the way before Him – revelation 11

there is no sign of them yet in Jerusalem and we have now gone beyond the point of 2012 being the end of this age.

Is the concept of "21st dec 2012- END OF THE EARTH" real?
