What are your thoughts on the world ending in 2012?

I personally think it is a bunch of BS. the Mayan calender sees 2012 as a year that a "new cycle" begins and they simply start their calender over from day one. I see it as no reason anything is going to change with the world other than the alignment of the stars will be repeating themselves from millions of years ago when the Mayan calender started.

What do you think?

excuse my language, but YES. it is complete BS.

first off, nobody can predict what God wants to do.

second, if that's what God wants, so be it. it's his choice, and we will all be in a better place

third, 2012 is not the end of the WORLD. it is the end of an ERA. earth and all it's inhabitants will be entering a new era.

what happens, happens.

no matter what NASA predicts, or the mayan calander observes, NOTHING is known for certain…but whatever happens, is for the better.

I agree with you completely, it's like them saying the world was going to end in 2000, then 2008, '09, and this year too!
it's ridiculous, it's just some way to make people panic and overreact, could be helping people who don't deserve it, like some newer holidays just get people to spend a bunch of money

The world can end tomorrow, the world can end a year from now, we dont know much about our planet, because theres many more things to learn, but judging the fate of earth on superstitious past societies will get us no where, we are more advanced and gained more knowledge about our surrounding then they have in the time in which they lived on earth.

And every time someone asks this question, the uneducated middle-school kids of America (the only people that believe this trash) think it must be true – if it wasn't true, why would so many people be asking about it on YA?

The mayans also believed that the gods previously made mud and wood men. they believe that 2012 is the end of this cycle of humans. i think 2012 has about the same chance at being the end of the world as 10 seconds from now… whew. it didnt end. yay.

This was funny, My teacher told us that "the world is not going to end in 2012, thats just the begining of a new calender" and i sighed in relief. Then everyone started laughing, but yeah im still nervous about it

of course its not although we can never really know when the world will end and it better not because then I would have wasted money on christmas presents.

I find it interesting. I don't buy the Mayan calendar, but many other civilizations also said it was going to end in 2012. I don't believe it at all….but still interesting c:

I went to the NASA website and did three hours of reaserch and they said that there is nothing going to happen space wise except a winter thingo, so my question REALLY is…Do you believe this 2012 thing, if you search 2012 in the NASA website and click on the most used link it'll answer questions but this is from me to you…Do you believe in 2012? Does this bother you? Any additional details accepted.

If anyone think its going to end because the Mayans said so then you have nothing to worry about.

The Mayans did not actually predict or say in any way that the world would end on 21st December 2012. Their calender does end on that date but then it starts again. this calender is a long count calender and it obviously had to end sometime. It does start again the next day though. think of it as a bit like our calender. It ends every year on the 31st December and then we start a new one. its just like that with the Mayans only their calender lasted thousands of years instead of a year.

As for the other theories going round, it is meant to be the end of the world as we know it, not the actual end if anything happens. there is also meant to be galactic alignment in the Winter Solstice but if this did happen, it won't do us any harm according to astronomers and scientists.

Dosn't bother me to much, the rumor from what I can tell started with the Mayan callendar ending in 2012. People interpreted this to mean the end of the world. Modern mayan descendants oppose this saying that that cutoff does not mean the end of the world, but just the end of the current age. But I may be wrong, we won't know for sure till' we hit 2012.

nope, not at all. mayan calendar, really? what logic is it based on? if i didn't misunderstand the whole movie, it's just for entertainments sake. they said the world was going to end in 2000.

I don't I recently discovered today that the Mayans also predicted that before 2012 the Mayans would receive big power and take over the world, sadly the Mayans don't exsist anymore so that can not happen.

No, since the entire thing is obvious lies. this can be detected by 20 – 60 minutes checking of the supposed facts on reliable web sites or, heaven forfend, in actual books.
