Do you believe the world is going to end in 2012 according to the Mayan calendar?

I don't know if I should believe it or not, cus most of the other predictions in the Mayan calendar were pretty accurate..

well if it does we better pray to god we make it to heaven

I hope the world changes in a good way.

its more then just the Mayan calendar that say the world will end in 2012 but idk if it does well i guess it was meant to be

Yeah, they've been right about TONS of other things.

No. they have examined the mayan ruins and many of what it says about the end of cycle is not readable and has been destroyed.

hopefully not because i wont even be graduated from highschool

Of course not.

its just a movie and i am getting a little scared of it

ps.i dont think it will

I don't want to, but I'm starting to. It really sucks because I graduate highschool in early June of 2012. :(

Eh, I don't really think it will.

However, let me assure you I will be partying it up in November of 2012 just in case :P

Do you believe the world is going to end in 2012 according to the Mayan calendar?

2012 End of the World, Sarah Palin?

Do you think the end of the world predictions, 2012 is connected to the USA election ?

"United States more likely to start World War III under President Sarah Palin"

Sarah Palin believes her home state of Alaska will be the last sanctuary on earth from Armageddon during the second coming of Jesus Christ, her ultimate savior and reason for living or dieing. a president Sarah Palin can press the red button, starting a nuclear World War III (Armageddon); from any where, even while on vacation in Alaska!

Do you trust Sarah Palin with her hand on the red button of America's nuclear weapons ?

Ye of little faith! You don't believe in the Mayan calendar and the Pagan belief that 2012 means the end of the world (actually great changes)? the problem is that everyone wants the 2012 prediction to be true. They want the end of the world. I trust Palin more than the one who is here now. the thing is she already said she isn't running. and so far no one else is currently looking good either.
Women can be more patient than most men sometimes, that is why they did better at managing families and estates while men went off to war (this being the American Indian and many pagan societies of the past.)
Humor is in the eye of the men who told it.

If Palin is elected, then 2012 is likely to be the start of the end of America and potentially the rest of humanity. on the other hand, even if Palin is elected and "presses the button" and every other country "presses their buttons", it will only mean the end of humanity, the rest of the world will continue in some form. even if all life is wiped out, our planet will still exist for billions of years.

It is extremely arrogant to think that the world is tied to the USA or that it will "stop" if humans are extinct.

do you know why she believes Alaska would be the last sanctuary on earth from Armageddon (side note, Armageddon is Greek for Revelation)? because it is still mostly wilderness, so a lot easier to hide from a government that is trying to hunt you down to kill you. why would she start a nuclear war to bring the return of Jesus when it is clear that it isn't a war that brings his return. not to mention that why would she want to have to explain herself before God as to why she killed so many people.

No, the world wont end in 2012 ;) Im a strong believer in god. it says in the bible that nobody knows when the world is going to end ! so dont go around believeing that !!!! it could end in 1000000 years for all we know ;) Take this advice and dont believe this junk !

i agree with possum
and SNL already suggested that in a sketch
i would have a agreed with them if it wasn't a stupid sketch ( look it up(but you might like it))
and i don't think she will even make it past the primary's

All I heard in the 80s was Reagan was going to start WWIII. same old BS.

I'm more concerned that Obama is going to spend us into bankruptcy.

Not really. I'm only going to believe 2012 is the end of the world if the Cubs win the World Series that year.

Whatever floats your boat.

Where does she say that, what's your source? I am curious.

Quite. Don't give that nut any ideas. she might think its true.

2012 End of the World, Sarah Palin?

How many of you think the world will really end in 2012?

All of my friends are into this hype that the world will end in 2012, and i wanted to know how many of you guys think the world will really end on that year?

Please add details as of why you think its not going to end

December 21st, 2012 is the end of the current bak'tun in the Mayan calendar. it isn't the end, nor is it a prediction of armageddon. It's simply when the calendar cycles back over. unlike our additive calendar, the Mayan calendar is cyclical and resets about every four thousand years.

A great many people, most of whom were severely disappointed when all the world's computers didn't explode on Jan. 1st 2000, are trying to panic other people into thinking 2012 is the end of the world.

The world WILL end.
We will be invaded by aliens in the year 2012.

My reasoning: the Aztecs predicted that the god Quetzalcoatl will arrive in the year 1519. Coincidentally in that year (or is it a coincidence?), Hernando Cortes arrived and destroyed the Aztecs.

The Mayans predicted that the world will end in the year 2012. therefore something must be invading us. that something are the aliens.

Just as long as we can get the London Olympics out of the way first…

Seriously, anyone that genuinely believes the world will end in 2012 has a psychiatric problem and needs help. think of the millions of people in the past who thought the world was about to end, every single one of them wrong.

All things end in order to allow other things to begin. It's a fact of life. while the end of the world is quite a dramatic and popular way to look at it… what if the "end" isn't what you think it may be? If the hype concerns war, famine, and disease… is that something we haven't seen already or happened in the past? fear is a famously contagious disease in itself.

No offense to your friends, but that is not true. the Mayan calendar says that the last day is December 21st, 2012. Well, at least that's when it ends, and to tell the truth… what id the Mayans could only count to that date? or something stopped them from saying that!!!!!!!!!!!! I personally don't think it's true. I might be wrong, I might be right. but the Lord will only try to lead us to what is right. And from what I see on the news, Barack Obama is trying to make everything better but the econemy is not going to well.

All that Nostradamus and Religious stuff is completely fake. the calendar is off by three years anyway. So all those people worried about 2012 will be scared when it is actually 2015. this year is actually 2012 if you can believe it, but no one is going to die, because it is a load of squawk.

You know, when the world ends in about 1000 million years from now there will be those idiots who will say," I told you so." the world is not going to end in the year 2012 despite man's best efforts to make it do so.

I don't think the world will end in 2012 because the world will end in 2011.

It might as well end then or any other date, Im sure the end tomorrow is a result of the choices we make today.

One thing I do believe, is that this question gets asked here about 2,012 times a week.
http://answers.yahoo.com/search/search_r…

Because of a calculation error, the Mayans were slightly off. the world already ended last Tuesday. sorry for the confusion.

OMG, has anyone ever thought that maybe the Mayans got tired and took a friggin break for a while?

Nothing is going to happen. I pinky swear.

It wont end because there is no reason for it to end.

Unless we anger Humphery…

ಠ_ಠ
HUMPHERY!!!!!!!!!

For you to bring this hear you must not have many friends to discuss this with.

No worries, I don't think anyone survived Y2K anyways.

Did you know fear generates revenue for some?

The world would exist for at least another 300 years.

I do not.
-16.

Its not going to end! My bf thinks it is and he is such an idiot lol…

the world can come to end at any time for any one who wants it to… but i don't recommend suicide!

One can always hope! but in reality probably not.

Tell your idiotic friends that Richard Dawkins is going to save us.

I don't think it will end. Terrence Mckennas Time Wave zero software did make me think though…

Not for me matey, I'm booked on the escape ship to Mars. enjoy your last three years.

the world wont end in 2012!!!!!
where the hell did you get this from????? -.-

It has already ended…where you been……

who knows ? maybe
so just live ur life !

not I said the me. :)

How many of you think the world will really end in 2012?

Since Islam has no reference of end of world on 2012, Can we believe on the scientific facts?

what scientific facts?

2012 is not the end of the world. Stupid dumb atheistmust believe in that since supposedly scientist have proven it. Dumb atheist! the world is never going to end until God say so.

Probably NWO is going to start….

If you think the Mayan calendar is scientific, then you should clearly stick with Islam.

What scientific facts?

Science doesn´t claim that the world will end in 2012. Idiots do.

We should go by facts and completely disregard Islam and every other religion.

Scientific Facts?

LMAO

The Qu'ran talks about aliens. can you really trust that a book written by a trekkie is scientifically sound?

The Hopi American Indians, the Mayans, and I think the Hindus, all have reference to end times being 2012. there may be more, I don't know. Even so, that is not scientific. the supernatural can not be quantified by theory, tests, and results. it surpasses the natural. hence, it will never be proved scientifically.

Islam has no reference of the end of the world on 2012 or any specific date.Muslim works to live a thousand years and prayed hard to die tomorrow. It"s very important to check the 'sign' of world coming to the end from quran and hadeed.

God knows and you do not . jesus himself did not know when the end of the world :) .

The fact is that anyone predicting the end of the world or anything else for 21 December 2012 is a liar.

Welcome to my 2262nd answer to this.

I know that all predictions of doom and disaster in December 2012 are lies. they are frauds for commercial gain and spread by corrupt television channels, corrupt publishers and dishonest web site owners.

The prophecies from the Mayan calendar and Nostradamus do not exist. the Mayan calendar thing was invented by Jose Arguelles who also claims to be a reincarnated Mayan priest. In reality, the Mayans predicted that something would descend into something else. the inscription is damaged so it is anyone's guess what it actually meant. Probably party time.

Nostradamus is nearly always quoted by those who predict the end of the world and was quoted for the last end of the world in 1999 – 2000. nobody who quotes him ever says exactly where the prophecy is in his books since some people could check and prove them to be liars.

There is no stray planet called X or Nibiru. If one of these was due to be here in December 2012 it would already be visible. X was supposed to be here in 2003 by Nancy Lieder who claims to hear alien voices in her head. Nibiru is supposed to be here after 2085 by Zecharia Sitchin who invented it.

Timewave Zero was cooked up by a big-time drug user called Terrence McKenna out of the I Ching, a Chinese book of divination intended for personal fortune telling, and therefore just an old superstition. His first version supposedly showed the end of the world or something in November 2012. That did not quite fit with Arguelles theories so McKenna fiddled it to fit.

The planets will not line up and it would not matter if they did.

The magnetic and geographic poles will not shift.

The 25,800 year precession cycle will not stop, start or change direction. it will merely be where it was 25,800 years before, just like it is all the time. this has no significance except to astronomers and not a great deal to them.

Nearly all neutrinos pass through the Earth as if it was not there and therefore cannot heat up the planet core, they carry virtually no energy each in any case. there are no "special" neutrinos emitted by the Sun.

The peak in solar activity is expected in early – mid 2013 and is expected to be about average, it happens about every 11 years in any case. Even if it turns out to be a big one, it may cause a few blackouts for a few hours in places where power grids are already under strain and it may affect a few land phone lines. the majority of communications is by fibre-optics now and this cannot affect them

Most of the stories of galactic line ups are false, that includes the Sagittarius thing. One is nearly true but it happens every year about 18 December. nothing happens then and the others would not matter if they were true. the centre of the galaxy is too far away to bother us much.

There are no known asteroids, comets or large meteors expected. the Earth will be struck by meteors, but that happens all the time. most of them burn up in the upper atmosphere and put on a brief light show.

Earthquakes happen almost hourly, some are big, most are small. they cannot be predicted this far out.

Most of the lies and the liars are dealt with at www.2012hoax.org in greater detail.

Since Islam has no reference of end of world on 2012, Can we believe on the scientific facts?

Do you think that all these earthquakes are signs of the end of the world? (2012)?

like totally

like that is why i'm getting ready 4 the end in 2012

2012 isn't until 2 and a half years dumbass

maybe it is aand maybe it isn't…but if the world goes at least justin bieber goes with it ;)

No, not unless earthquakes know how to count. That is the only way that the earthquakes will know that it is 2012.

No, the real "end of the world" on the mayan calendar, was just the day they ended their calendar. think about it— 2012 seemed a long time from then and they just ended it, it couldn't go on forever. They just ended the calendar! Don't worry, the end of the world could be 1,000 years from now!

Yeah, you know another sign. They didn't fill my drink up all the way at the movies the other day. I'm so scared, I don't know what sign could get worse then that. *bites fingernails and rocks back and forth in fetal position*

no. how many times have people said that the world was going to end i mean really. every time something happens people start freaking out and thinking it was the end.

Earthquakes have been occuring for billions of years…..

no, it just means the world is getting crappier and crappier…

not to the point of ending though

No.
The biggest threat is asteroids and comets and a black hole 7000 light years away.

look at all these ppl saying no it isn't, well yes it is can't you see so many ppl dying, young more than old, all these signs of earthquakes and tsunamis, believe me there is going to be worse soon. Just trust in God. May he guide you to the path. Peace.

Do you think that all these earthquakes are signs of the end of the world? (2012)?

Do you believe the world will end in 2012?

The Mayan calendar is remarkably accurate, especially since it was designed by a civilization that lived far before the Greeks, Romans, or even Egyptians started recording time. Their calendar ends in 2012. the Mayans also drew a picture of the solar system thousands of years before the rest of the world knew the earth was round. Their solar system had a 10th planet. Some scientist call this planet X. it is supposed to orbit every 3600 years bringing devastation and possibly an end to our civilization. What do you think?

Do you believe the world will end in 2012?

Is the world going to end in 2012 as many predicted? Nostradamus, The mayas, phisicists, the bible, ….?

Nobody predicted that.

The Mayan Calendar ends in 2012. That doesn't mean the 'end of the world'…just the end of their calendar.

The bible doesn't say any such thing.

Nothing that Nostradamus wrote ever mentioned a specific date…for anything. His writings were so vague that people find meanings in them, well after the events he supposedly 'foretold'.

the bible does not say when the world is going to end. nostradamus was a phony and the mayas never said the world was going to end in 2012, thats just when their calender stops (it has to stop somewhere). even if the mayas did say the world was going to end in 2012, that doesnt mean that theyre right. where would they get that information from?

Well, I don`t think it`S so much the world ending, but that the planets will be in line completely for the first time since the last time which was a really long time ago… Even our scientist are saying that much. That when the planets do line up the earth will be knocked off it`s axsis and WA-LA!Instant earthquakes, storms, volcanoes, need I say more? why not be as ready as you can? our scientist are pretty on about these things!

Other than the Mayan calendar the rest is paranoid gossip. Nostradamus, the Bible, any physicists, do not declare 2012 as the freaking end of the world. Prove me wrong.

Ever since the beginning of time, the world was going to end within a hundred years.

As a Christian, I am basing my opinion on the Bible. and, the Bible says no one but God knows when the world will end. Not even the angels. It's Mark 13:32.

NON OF THEM PREDICTED THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! INVESTIGATE INSTEAD OF EATING UP EVERYTHING THE TV TELLS YOU TO SCARE YOU.

The world (as we know it it) will end soon. Exactly when, no-one knows. yes it could be 2012, it might be tomorrow.

The point is to be ready!

no man knows the day nor the hour just get prepared n do right and seek first the kingdom of god n all other things will be added onto u.

The Bible? funny, I read it and didn't see any such thing. Physicists? How odd… I'm married to one and he has no idea where you're getting that.

No, no, no, and no.

As we know it
Out with the old in with the new
Or do you think that this society is going to live for ever?
If thats true I guess your more insane then me

no. check in on Jan. 1 2013 and you will see I am right.

idk, i dont think about it.

but that would suck… i dont want to die when im only 20. lol

Is the world going to end in 2012 as many predicted? Nostradamus, The mayas, phisicists, the bible, ….?

Do you believe the world will end in late December of the year 2012 the end of the Myan calendar?

I'm going to believe it till 2013 hits, live it up the end is near!

No. Most of modern civilization don't follow the Mayan calendar, so why should we take stock into what it says?

2012 is also the year Nostradamus' predictions end

well the Mayan calender ends on that time, but it doesnt mean the world will end it just means the calender didnt go on after then. maybe they got bored and decided to finish it then

That's an interesting theory…

I believe something will happen, something good, something positive… but no I do not believe it will end..

You know I heard about something like that, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. After all, weren't the Mayans some of the smartest people ever, I mean for their time they were freaking geniuses!

Well, IF it's the end of the world as we know it, I feel fine.

No, because my Outlook claendar goes further than that date, and Microsoft knows more than the Mayans did.

I think they just arbitrarily stopped the count at that time, but live it up all the same…

possible but my answer would be 'no'.

no, but go to http://www.13moon.com/prophecy%20page.ht…

I believe that with all that is going on in this world (war, disease, murder) the world is bound to end really soon! I'm not sure if its going to be 2012 but I'm sure it will be soon!

No the world wont end. if god was real he would make sure that nobody knew and if people found out he would change it.

No.

I depends on what you believe in …God created the Universe or we evolved from Apes (Science).

Reason being, in the Bible there were no Decmbers or Junes. they went by the Lunar Calendar.(the moon) so the date of today may not necessarily be the the same day next year. Because the moon is not set to a specific time.

The other one, why would the earth blow up.In science they teach you if anything is pressured too much, like the core, it turns solid. so why would the earth be any different from any other heated substance. What we are supposed to die from disease, well that's inevitable because sickness happen.

I have a better question what happened to time b4 they had a calendar? I think in that answer you will find the answer to your question. Time has no beginning and no end, and according to physics can even be changed.

It's not the end of time – even according to the Mayans. It's the end of one of their ages. the end of creation is said to be October 21, 4772 AD. see the wikipedia article below.

Also Nostradamus did not predict the world would end in 2012. he gives dates well into the 3000s. (And his prediction about 1997/8 did not come true.)

Basically, on Dec 21, 2012, the odometer is rolling over on the Mayan calendar (sort of like our calendar reaching the year 2000).

http://www.astro.uu.nl/%7Estrous/AA/en/2…

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayan_long_…

Good luck! :)

I believe the world will end anytime from now since we have started seeing the happening that the Bible says we will see at the end of time.

It's not about ending, but transformations and new beginnings.

is that true? before the world would end..let me know first who are those mayans you talk about? i should know first all things about them then i will back to this question and then answer. but as of now..the world has ended to me because of poverty, robbery, murder, corruption, etc. and because of those things why i considered that today is the end of the world.. i can't move freely..without feeling of danger .

most scholars who have studied this question are now convinced that what the mayans were predicting was the end of a phase of existence, not the end of the world as we know it.

No, can't be.
The Mayan calender itself actually predicts a Royal Wedding on a later date. so it can't be the end of the world, perhaps the world as we know it if you really want to believe in that.

Let's hope so.

It's pretty sure that SOMETHING of significance will happen about that time. this has cropped up in too many places, too many times, to shrug it off.
However, I agree with "searching" that it probably won't be the end of the world. It WILL be some sort of a major change, though.
Maybe some catastrophic geological changes, maybe a really wide-ranging political change (like conversion to a single world government – Whew! I shudder at THAT thought!!!), maybe public contact with an extra-terrestrial race for the first time, maybe the establishment of the first earth colony on another planet, etc. certainly it would be something on that kind of a scale.

The end of one thing always brings on the beginning of something else, and I just hope that whateve starts then will be better than whatever is ending.

The Mayan calendar "ends" every 52 years.

Do you believe the world will end in late December of the year 2012 the end of the Myan calendar?

If we go by the Gregorian calendar, than what does the Maya calender have anything to do with our 2012?

Wouldn't the Maya 2012 already have happened by now? or am I wrong.

The Mayans had a different way of telling time and I believe the archeologists who first figured out the Mayan calendar then put it into our time keeping way and figured out it ended in our year 2012. the Mayan calendar was, I believe, something like a 300 year cycle…

A number of people studied the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar to calculate what the significant dates would be in our current calendar.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesoamerica…

The mayan calander is coming around to some round number. whatever they base it on, maybe 10,000 or whatever, and then it rolls back to zero again. It's only on our Gregorian calendar that it happens to be 2012, on the winter solstice (which is a good start/stop for most astronomically based calendars)

no the end of the written record for their system of charting the lunar and solar long cycles will end on the day expected-that date is our notation for the same day they calculated the end of their calendar, and like all calendars it will start over the next day, and if not, well..not really anything anyone can do about that.

Actually according to Sitchin the mayan calendar's 2012 is 2087 in our calendar. if u wanna know more about this whole thing: http://www.2012returnofnibiru.com/

If we go by the Gregorian calendar, than what does the Maya calender have anything to do with our 2012?

The world ends in 2012 according to the Mayans calendar. Is there any predictions in Indian culture or Hinduism?

the Indians has many cultures, particularly the Hindus has the many siddars or saints who are capable of predicting any thing in the future, but according to my knowledge there was no such sayings. how for the end of world 2012 is true?

No, the world does NOT end in 2012 according to the Mayan calendar.

The entire claim that the Earth was going to end in 2012 is based on a *misinterpretation* of the Mayan calender, which appears to those who don't know how to read it to end in 2012.
In reality, the Mayan calender is a cyclic calender, meaning it runs in a cycle. (Much like a car's odometer, which, when it reaches 999,999 miles, will click back over and start at 000,000 again.) the people who are claiming that the Mayans predicted the end of the world are reading the Mayan calender as if it was a linear calender like ours. It's not. the Mayans did NOT predict the end of the world. they did NOT make any claims of the sort. the people who say that the Mayans said anything like that are people who know NOTHING about the Mayan culture, don't know how to read the Mayan calender, and have NO idea what they're talking about.
Either way, why anyone would attach any sort of significance to a perceived "prediction" made by an ancient civilization that couldn't even predict it's own downfall is beyond logical comprehension. (Not that any end-time theorists in the history of mankind are known for their logic or comprehension skills.) It's particularly baffling that it's Christians who seem to have grabbed on to this, and use it to back up their religion's end-time fantasy, when under ANY other circumstances they would say that the Mayans beliefs were "false beliefs".

The world ends in 2012 according to the Mayan calendar? really?
Anyone that has done any research at all would know that the Mayan Long Count calendar doesn't end in 2012, and it doesn't predict the end of the world.

The Long Count calendar clicks over to the next cycle – sort of like our calendars do every Dec 31. like our calendar, it was a reason to celebrate.

Ppl relying on an ancient calendar of the Mayans. I heard someone once say" A person is smart, people are stupid" In other words, one person can stay sane, but when an idea is put in People's heads, all the people together can create mass panic. Who knows, we might wipe ourselves out due to insane panic. Ppl freaking out over the supposed end of the world. It will end when it ends
I had a dream about 10yrs ago, that something will happen in 2056. I am no prophecy, but I have a strong feeling we will be okay. 2012, maybe nothing catastrophic, maybe just a great change. the Mayans prob just got tired of predicting so far ahead. they prob thought a few thousand yrs was enough of predicting. they aren't here now, so we can't ask them, only speculate.

Elvis is living in my basement, Bigfoot is my gardener and Freddy Kreuger is my pool boy.

What is wrong with that statement?

Well, start with the fact that its completely false.

According to the Mayans, the world will end in 2012.

Another completely false statement. please, if you are going to present such an absurd claim, show some proof. ANYTHING is better than nothing.

2012 is just a year, dude.

The generation of the fig tree started may 15,1948.

Mat 24:32 now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

Summer is harvest.

The world does not end according to the mayans.

http://news.aol.com/article/world-wont-e…

Even if there were identical predictions, it would make them no more or less true.

according to the bible the world is never gonna end!

well the world ended a lot sooner than that for the Mayans didnt it

Not going to happen.

http://WhenEnd.8v.com

That is an interesting question that I would like to look into but it was not just the mayans who made this prediction. the same prediction was made by the ancient Egyptians who built the pyramids of Giza to line up with the stars on the 21st. there was also the freemasions who skillfully crafted the same messages secretly onto catholic churches and recently the lost book of nostradamus was found also depicting what will happen on the 21st Dec 2012. It is said on this day the sun will not rise and that the sun will eclipse in the center of our galaxy and with this the north pole and south pole will switch, the icebergs will be no more, the bees will be no more which will bring famine. the entire earth as we know will change if the sun does not rise on the 21st because of the planetary alignment. This alignment is said to only happen every 26 or 27 thousand years and each time it happens brings a new age, just as it did with the ice age. Nostradamus said the earth will get hotter each year until oneday the fish from the sea will be half boiled but this process will be a bad but short lived one and the way to survival is in our choices.

And to everyone else who answered that the Mayans did not predict this is obviously not up to date with scientific information. Scientists can predict an eclipse up to the exact second. the mayans were great astrologers. anyway, do you honestly think God would let the human race continue the way it has, breaking every rule he set. what is the point of keeping us, if we are not worthy to live? Wait until the 21st of December 2012, if the sun doesn't rise. I suggest u get your thinking caps on and if those who think kill or be killed when it happens.. I'd think again too. over history it shows species that are violent and worthless are always wiped out. the Mayans were wiped out because of their violence, just like the vikings, hitler and other people who felt killing is okay. If the human race keeps choosing war, then the human race won't be chosen… and I don't blame him.

The world ends in 2012 according to the Mayans calendar. Is there any predictions in Indian culture or Hinduism?
