Does the mayan calendar actually say the world will end in 2012?

I just barely graduated high school and I am worried about this whole "end of the world" prediction in 2012. I have read A lot about the mayan calendar and I have not seen where they have said its the end of the world on a certain day. in fact, Ive read we have already gone through a great cycle before and nothing happened. why are people so worried this time? Can anyone please answer this, so I can live my life and not worry? Thank you

The mayan calender does not state anywhere on it that 'on this specific day we are all going to die'
what happened was that the calender stopped on the winter solstice, december 22, 2012
that is the last day recorded on the calender, now people consider this a sign that it will be the apocalypse.
But how many times have people freaked out about the end of the world? a lot. that's how much
no one seems to consider that maybe they ran out of room. or that they were going to have to stop the calender eventually, it couldn't possibly go on FOREVER. so they just so happened to end the calender on that day. and anyways if we do all die, then we do all die, nothing to do about it, worrying will just ruin wat little time you have left.

I just spent 4 weeks up and down the Yucatan and met many Mayans. I was curious as to what their ancestors had told them about the end of the calendar. the Maya people never looked at it as the end of the world but more a time of great trial and turbulence on earth, somewhat of a turning point where we either go down a dark path or towards a brighter future. I don`t mean to contribute to you anxiety, but in my opinion we don`t seem to be laying the groundwork for a brigher future. However it won`t all end on a certain day. it will take time, and hopefully you`ll have a long and healthy life before it gets real bad.

Five thousand years. That's the time it takes to go through the Mayan calendar. the Mayans were very skilled astronomers. Their orbit of Venus was more accurate than the Europeans'. Their dates may be reliable, but it bets the question: what will happen? they did not predict the end of the world. the calendar of the Mayans is based on something, right? Some say it's an alignment with the center of the galaxy. Some feel there may be a correction of the precession of the earth's axis.. Either one would be harmless by itself. the original Mayan codex was destroyed by the Spanish hundreds of years ago.

The world may not end yet then but mankind might suffer more natural and man-made disasters(wars). That's my opinion.

No, the Calender ends

No. and even if it did say that, it wouldn't mean anything anyways lol

No, they simply stopped their calendar there, before disappearing off the face of the Earth, as a race. I hate to contradict another answerer, but there are no Mayan descendants that we can positively say are Mayan. What they may or may not have known, is that the Earth will be at the exact center of the Milky Way galaxy on that date. the magnetic forces will be tremendous. there is the possibility that we could draw in space debris, large or small. anything from asteroids to comets. I don't know if you give this information any credibility, but the Bible Codes predict a large comet hitting the Earth, not in whole, but in pieces, in 2012. Also the I-Bot, the collective data that is used to predict events based on the worldwide web, also predicts something catastrophic for that date, as does the I-Ching predictions, which may or may not have any teeth to them. Personally, I'm a skeptic, but it's food for thought. they experts agree that something will happen as a result of the magnetic forces, like the Earth's magnetic poles could shift, we know it can do that because it's done it before; but I look at the fact that this happens every twenty-eight thousand years or so, and that the Earth is four point five billion years old. It's already happened a lot of times, you do the math. We're still here. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it. there is nothing I can do about it, at any rate. One thing is certain, and that is that people will cash in on any panic that may be generated out of ignorance, people always see dollar signs whenever there is any kind of panic. take care.

Does the mayan calendar actually say the world will end in 2012?

Which famous celebrities are endorsing the 2012 Mayan Calendar conspiracies?

I want to live to be 50 and I need to know who I'm reckoning with!

On Dec 20th 2012 there will be rioting in the streets when the people realize the world did not end and there are only four shopping days till Christmas.

Which famous celebrities are endorsing the 2012 Mayan Calendar conspiracies?

Can anyone survive 2012?

Like the 2010 movie 2012. Can we survive? I know everyone says that its not the end. but i don't know which side to choose if its the end or not.

You know the movie was fiction, right? Complete fabrication.

2012 is not the end of the world, it is the end of the Mayan calendar, which most people don't ever pay attention to. but if they did, they'd know it's just like the end of the calendar that hangs in your home. Once it's through, you start over. With January, that is, at least in the case of our Gregorian Calendars.

I find it interesting that anyone would be scared of a supposed end to the world when they'd not even bothered to read up on it.

I get what you are saying-Ive been doing some research and some of the people predicting or saying something will happen are saying yes others no. so if they dont know neither do we. Ive watched this show on the history chaneel about dec 21 2012 and they looked very convinsed. what i think about this- I think they should stop scaryring people until they know 100% about the date. and yes i think we can survive if something happens. but not everyone will survive

look there are sixbillion people on the face of this planet , its gonna take more than one year for them all to die horribly .

will anyone be alive or even left by 2050? good question .

personally i doubt it .

i think this time thee illuminati have really gone too far …

but then again who knows???

as for the indigo children . yes it is indeed written! but …. they still need bodies ….

and i doubt there will be any of that left , unless the manniacle and partly evil annunaki save the day LOL!!!

im expecting it to get that bad … any who i plan not to be around for then , i unlike most ignorant creaures here have serious designs on living -_-

but as for the jist of your question . obviously not . there is just too much stuff happening .

Good people can. but, I don't research much on doomsday theories anymore. I'm more focused on the paranormal. but, the world is getting worse now. Suddenly, there were a lot of large earthquakes (I'm not talking about 7-8 earthquakes, but in general, like 5 magnitude earthquakes) since 2010 started.

Let me tell you a secret… People thought that world was going to end about 10 more times before this. Don't worry about this, this is bull. I know how every one is buzzing up about how the Mayans or Aztecs (I forget that part) predicted this, but they were the ones who got wiped out later. Please don't believe in 2012, it's a waste of time. but you should still live like it's happening, because you never know when it's your time.

If it is the end, which it most likely isn't, we will survive. DO NOT WORRY! we survived the ice age, WWI, WWII, the cold war, if i'm missing other catastophic events, sorry. what makes this any differnent from them? If you think your going to die, spend all your money on building a nucleur bunker and have fun. :)

Throughout history, some people have claimed to know exactly when the world was coming to an end — and in every case they were wrong. there is no reason to believe it will be different with this prediction (if in fact it even is one — which many scholars doubt).

Only God knows the future, and the most comforting truth I can tell you is that the future is in his hands — and his hands alone. yes, some day the world as we know it will come to an end — but not one second before God causes it to happen. In that day, Christ will return to earth to overcome all evil and establish his kingdom of perfect peace and justice.

When will that be? Jesus warned us not to make guesses or firm predictions, because "no one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father" (Matthew 24:36). At the same time, the Bible does tell us that certain things must take place before Christ returns — and many of those are happening today.

The most important question, however, is this: are you ready for the day when you must stand before God — either because of death or because of Christ's return? Don't dodge that crucial issue, but make sure of your salvation by trusting Christ and giving your life to Him today.

ya of course we'll survive since the world WONT END. the movie 2012 is waay to predictable, "oh look we conveniently escaped that cloud of smoke seconds before we could've died. again."

it's not going to happen, people worry too much. even if something does happen, life goes on. If something would happen to me tomorrow, life would still go on and wouldn't stop.

If it's called the end of the world then it means exactly that. The end of the world. it wouldn't be the end of the world if there are survivors.

Look, mate, humans have been predicting the end of the world since the dawn of time.
Remember Y2K?
Or 6/6/06?

Sure, and I can tell you the secret for 50 dollars. Contact me at invitation_to_madness2@yahoo.com and I'll tell you where to send the money and let you know what you have to do to see 2013.

i tried to see past it but its a void.

That movie is just in it to make money and has no scientific bases. nobody has given an good explanations on why the world will end on 2012.

the myans predicted this. everything they have ever predicted has came true. but then again some people think that no one can predict the end.

I predict that everyone who survived y2k will survive 2012.

Only the relatives of the Mayans. and ninjas.

it is not the end scientist say there is still a long time after the end so it is still fine

No one knows what will happen in 2012, maybe nothing. some say the rapture will come, other's say the indigo children will survive. no one knows.

Do some research,
A lot of dates have been predicted and it never occurred.
What makes this date any different ?

There is no scientific evidence that the world will end in 2012

Yes. Cockroaches, ants and alligators.

Why dose every one belive that! The world is not going to end, we (as a human race) will be okay. At least I think so.

i have survived year 2000

Everyone who can will.

You loss nothing to be prepared.

why not? if the God want something happen, that will be happened

if it does… it depends upon how it ends.

Can anyone survive 2012?

Why do people take Mayan 2012 prophecies seriously, when they couldn't even predict the coming of the Spaniards?

I mean that's a pretty big one to miss, that conquistadors are going to arrive and destroy what's left of your empire. but make some ambiguous reference to the end of the world and suddenly every alien-fearing american is wetting their panties and taking you seriously

You my friend are amazing, I laughed like crazy. I agree!

i know right it so dumb Americans fear everything that crosses their eyes

HAHAHA, one of the best questions yet…

Very funny stuff

File it under "things that make you go Hmmmm."

Edit Added:

Hey martinrcota just so you know, dude. It's not the christians that are giving this thing any credence. It's mostly the atheist and kooks that are screaming the loudest.
How' that nostrodomos thing workin' for ya?
Our Lord comes when he comes and we're fine with that.

the mayans never predicted the end of the world there calander just ends on what would be on our calander dec 21 2012

so true…..

there wasn't even a myan prophecy. the fact is, the Mayan Calendar is a cyclical calender. it happens to restart in 2012… the Christians need a new day for their end of the world since the last few didn't work out (especailly if tomorrow 9.9.9 doesn't pan out, and 6.6.6 and y2k wasn't very eventful) so they chose that since it seems kinda odd the calendar ends on that date and its close…

Who knows? most people would over look this and cry about 2012.

It is difficult to stop the 2012 End of the World hoax with facts and logic.

One of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or 7057.5 years. the next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. this is not a prediction of the end of the world.

These predictions are scare tactics, conspiracy theories, and chances to make money from books and movies.

Ever since the Y2K and 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenarios did not pan out, the scare mongers, conspiracy theorists, book sellers, and television executives have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. when 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.

The Mayans were correct…2012 is the end of the world

I’m not trying to be a pessamist, but can we talk about Japan for 33.5 seconds?

MSN.com – the catastrophe at Japan’s stricken nuclear complex is now worse than three Mile Island, experts said Tuesday, after the two most recent blasts exposed a spent fuel pool to outside air and might have compromised a reactor shield.

An explosion overnight at Unit 4 at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant opened two large holes in the structure housing spent nuclear fuel rods in a large pool.

Japanese officials told the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that the spent fuel storage area had caught fire and that radioactivity was “being released directly into the atmosphere.”

After the fire was extinguished, a Japanese official said the spent fuel pool might still be boiling, though the reported levels of radiation had dropped dramatically by evening.

The Mayans were correct…2012 is the end of the world

What do you think will happen in the year 2012 ?

search for this question and you will find yourself in bunch of answers rather wasting your time by asking and waiting for the answers
any way in 2012 there will be Olympics at London tickets are now at sale
2012 cricket world cup is there to get bawl off !
the U.S world space station is going to completed which was cost the whole world around 6.23 trillion $ !
and so on and so forth blah blah

Nothing. So, don't worry.

There are NO LEGITIMATE theories about the 2012 hoax!

2012 is a complete 100% junk science internet hoax; usually believed by people who did poorly in their science classes!

The planets NEVER ACTUALLY ALIGN. Their orbits prevent an actual straight line alignment.
http://www.etsu.edu/physics/etsuobs/star…

Planet X does not exist anywhere in the sky. no where on the internet can you find the sky coordinates for this fake planet. It is not hiding behind the sun (we orbit the sun ), it is NOT visible from the Southern Hemisphere. we can see in every direction with our telescopes.
http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/misc/pla…

No near Earth objects are headed our way for a catastrophic impact in 2012.

The Earth and sun "line-up" on the center of the galaxy every year on December 21st! we are actually 6 degrees away from the galactic plane MOVING FURTHER AWAY! we are 30,000 light years away from the center of the Milky Way Galaxy! This is a GIGANTIC distance – you do the math– it's about 6 TRILLION MILES time 30,000 !

The whole thing is a complete hoax. Watch the famous astronomer Neil Tyson make fun of the 2012 hoax.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJjQMwEjC…

and READ what NASA's scientists think about this 2012 nonsense:
http://astrobiology.nasa.gov/ask-an-astr…

As for the Mayans; they believed that the Earth was flat and had 4 corners. they also believed that the sky was held up by 5 large trees each one a different color, and believed the Earth rested on the back of a giant crocodile! they worshiped the SUN god!

Are any of these other Mayan beliefs actually TRUE? The Mayans NEVER predicted the end of the world! Just more fake facts on the internet. The Mayans did NOT understand modern Astronomy. they simply recorded the movements of the "lights" in the sky over several generations. Just like many other ancient cultures who also had very accurate calendars. (Greeks, Romans, Chinese, and Arabs)

Good GRIEF!

http://www.2012hoax.org

In 2012, the crackpots who made up the 2012 doomsday predictions will start making up new doomsday predictions with a different date. People have been predicting the end of the world for centuries and they have ALWAYS been wrong.

The world will not end in 2012. anyone who says otherwise is trying to sell you something.

You have to bear in mind that it is even more "small-minded" to discount reality to allow one to believe in a fantasy.

The doomsday theories and associated stories about 2012 aren't theories. a theory is a hypothesis backed by measurable observations; these 2012 doomsday stories are hypotheses contradicted by measurable observations.

I really think life will continue on much as it has. War and peace, love and hate, growth and greed. we will discover another hundred or so extrasolar planets. There will be eclipses, meteor showers, and solar flares. we will know more, and some of us will object to us knowing more. I'll have another academic credential under my belt, and might even be *gasp* married.

Life goes on.

21 December 2012: The Boilerplate Answer

We hear each day "two oh one two"
The kids all ask if it is true.
"Nibiru, the planet we must fear,
Or planet X shall soon be here.
The Mayan count runs to an end.
I was told this by a friend.”

Nibiru the hoax world of Sitchin
Fit only for the garbage bin.
Devoid of fact, reason or wit,
Science laughs at all the talk of it.

Of planet “X” Nan Lieder cries,
And yet she won't look at the skies,
To come in 18 months it's true,
The damn thing must be now in view!

"where is it?" Science asks with glee,
"you said, 'Beware two thousand three!'
With Earth it didn't make a tryst,
We're very sure it don't exist!"

Galactic lines are the next fright,
And yet the angles are not right.
“Six degrees off!” the scientists say,
“It happens near each solstice day.”
But it would no difference make,
You can be sure the thing’s a fake.

"Planets align!" or so some say
"It will be on that very day."
Yet naught of fact now can they quote,
I'd like to take them by the throat
And try to squeeze some truth right in,
But murder now they say's a sin.

Failed prophets, fools, those full of fraud,
Are people with whom we all are bored.

2012 is a fantasy movie, not a prediction of the future.

We can't predict the future so stop worrying.

The 2012 movie is no more true than the Snow White and the seven Dwarfs movie, how much sleep did you lose over that ?

As for the Mayan calendar, all calendars end, ours ends on December the 31st, nobody's panicking over that.

The same stuff that happens every other year.

To my knowledge, there is nothing extraordinary about the year 2012.

Small minded, you say?

Yeah, one should be open minded, but not so open minded that your brains fall out.

What do you think will happen in the year 2012 ?

Mayan calendar is an ancient one and plethora of clues, putting together the pieces is very difficult to understand. the scientists and the scholars understands that the world would come to an end by 2012 after many studies. the calendar lasted for nearly five thousand one hundred and twenty five years, and its interpretations were almost correct. the most popular interpretation is that the world cycle will end on 21st December 2012 according to the Mayan calendar . In order to know better about the truth and the prediction it is important to know better about the calendar. on August 13th, 3114 BC the current cycle Batkun started. Which represents the end of last period and beginning of the current?

The end of the world 2012 will play out in a manner that it has something to do with one that is beyond the world. it is also believed that the world will by the Sun itself and not by any other forces in the galaxy. some also believes that the end is also due to some large solar flare. the flare may be due to orbit’s infiltration of planets which Babylonians and Sumerians that are referred to as Planet X and Nibiru. it is believed that there are some race of people lived in Nibiru called Anunnaki. the mythology states that this race of people come to earth and will genetically engineer the human beings because they are in need of gold for protecting their environment. it is also believed that the human beings whom they created will help to mine gold from South Africa and may also be in relation with Sumerians. In case of true nature, then the prediction also coincides with return of Anunnaki, i.e. return of our creators.

the calendar states that with the return of planet in to the system there may be a massive disasters in Uranus, Jupiter, Venus and Earth orbits. the Nibiru when crossing Jupiter may cause gases to ignite which it turn will create a second sun. thus Solar flare that are releasing from Sun are also at the peak during this year 2012 and the combination of these two cycles will cause massive damage to Earth that has never been seen before.

it has also been believed that the planetary alignment on earth during 2012 winter may also cause the world to end. at this time the entire milky way align at the point known as galactic equator and the alignment is so rare as it happens every 25000 years. This rare alignment causes shift of signal in magnetic poles , thus causes massive destruction to the Earth. it becomes a big question about Mayan calendar if any of these things does not happen. their understanding about the solar system and other predictions are rare that most people cannot understand.

The Real 2012 Mayan Prophecy Brings no Danger

There is so much fear being generated by the 2112 Prophecies . On  the History channel on TV keeps showing the world being destroyed in horrible ways. Hollywood gives us more horror and fear ending where we are all destroyed in scary ways. but that is just Hollywood.  The Dec. 21, 2012 will be no different than the year 2000 fear promotion brought us. It is simply the ending of the cycle of the calendar. It ends every 5126 years. a new cycle and calendar will start.

Yes thing are in a state of chaos on the planet at this time. That is a natural occurence when there is a change of cycles. There are things we need to do but there is no need for fear. The shift began in 1992 (many say it was the Harmonic Convergence of 1987.) The Mayans say that there is a 40 year period during which things fall apart and then rebuild into something new.  We are in that change period.

Mother earth has been abused, polluted and totally disregarded by modern man. The perception is that the earth is a dead thing that is here for us to subjugate and plunder.  That is not true.  The old cultures realized that the earth is very much alive and what we do to it, we do to ourselves. We could not exist without her help. Mother Earth is alive and rebelling at how we treat her. That is why we are having all the cleansing storms, the floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and more. We need to shift our perspective and start giving back to her instead of just taking from her.

The green movement is a part of that shifting perspective. My guides  tell me that we need to send love and gratitude to the planet, the earth, the wat ers, and air.  These are part of the ceremonies they used to hold to bring balance and harmony into being.  I’ll say more and give you suggestions on what to do in my next blog.  Thanks for reading and send me a message.

The Real 2012 Mayan Prophecy Brings no Danger

Why do people take the Mayan calendar and 2012 seriously?

The Mayan calendar may say the world ends in 2012 (well it may really not, says new research, but thats besides the point) The Mayan calendar also says the world began in 3,114 B.C.

If they can't get the beginning of the Earth even close to accurate, how the heck are the going to predict the end of the world!?

The Mayan calendar is cyclical. their "December 31" happens to fall on our literal December 21, 2012. after that, the calendar resets. this is not the first calendar cycle the Mayans have in their records, and it certainly isn't the last.

The Jewish calendar is on a seven and 50 year cycle (with every 50th year being the year of Jubilee). does that mean that the world will end after the next Jubilee celebration? Or does it simply mean the calendar will reset and go back to year one, much the same way the annual Gregorian calendar goes back to January first?

The Chinese calendar is on a 12 year cycle. Every 12 years, the calendar goes back to the year of the rat.

The Mayan calendar works the same way. it just takes a lot longer to reset.

Technically, it just referring to a new age of enlightenment starting up (there have been previous ages if i am correct), and their calendars are very accurate to what they predict, so people seeing that their calendar ends there, without taking the time to research, automatically say IT MUST BE THE END OF THE WORLD!!!

Because they do not want to read how the Bible declares the end will begin on may 21 2011. I have seen this study and I testify that it is true.

I am not allowed, by the rules of this forum, to direct you to specific sites that give you the details of this truth; so you need to search on the web for yourself.
Search: "Wecanknow" or you can look for "MAY 21 2011". another search you can do is for "Family Radio".

Before you do any such searching please start your search with an honest prayer to God that he lead you in his truth and not the "truths" of your own imaginations.

By the way: a faithful reading of 1Corinthians 2 will teach you how "no man Knoweth" is language pointing at the unsaved condition of mankind and that the True Believer (chosen by God) can know all things because he is given "a new spirit and the mind of Christ".

The Mayan Calendar ends in 2012 at the Winter Solstis…but they don't tell you or you have not heard that it recycles again….sorry the world will not end in 2012….it will end when God says it will end….

Best to watch this video on the paranoia of 2012 …..

The Mayans never predicted any "end",but a "great Cycle".maybe, the Earth will go back to normal and will suck in all oil, poisons, etc…for you religious fanatical Christians;I think your safe and you don't have to worry about an ending anytime soon!

I think that all the Mayans just died and didn't have time to finish their calendar. Now everyone thinks "they think the world will end" when really they just all disappeared and didn't finish the calendar.

The ones who take that sh*t seriously are MORONS.

Same reasons many people believe in silly things…

No, youre wrong. The world won't end, but a change will come. Something big is gonna happen.

Same reasons people believe in Christianity. They're idiots.

I haven't met anyone who believed any of this yet.

One of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or about 5125 years.
