The Mayan calendar may say the world ends in 2012 (well it may really not, says new research, but thats besides the point) The Mayan calendar also says the world began in 3,114 B.C.
If they can't get the beginning of the Earth even close to accurate, how the heck are the going to predict the end of the world!?
The Mayan calendar is cyclical. their "December 31" happens to fall on our literal December 21, 2012. after that, the calendar resets. this is not the first calendar cycle the Mayans have in their records, and it certainly isn't the last.
The Jewish calendar is on a seven and 50 year cycle (with every 50th year being the year of Jubilee). does that mean that the world will end after the next Jubilee celebration? Or does it simply mean the calendar will reset and go back to year one, much the same way the annual Gregorian calendar goes back to January first?
The Chinese calendar is on a 12 year cycle. Every 12 years, the calendar goes back to the year of the rat.
The Mayan calendar works the same way. it just takes a lot longer to reset.
Technically, it just referring to a new age of enlightenment starting up (there have been previous ages if i am correct), and their calendars are very accurate to what they predict, so people seeing that their calendar ends there, without taking the time to research, automatically say IT MUST BE THE END OF THE WORLD!!!
Because they do not want to read how the Bible declares the end will begin on may 21 2011. I have seen this study and I testify that it is true.
I am not allowed, by the rules of this forum, to direct you to specific sites that give you the details of this truth; so you need to search on the web for yourself.
Search: "Wecanknow" or you can look for "MAY 21 2011". another search you can do is for "Family Radio".
Before you do any such searching please start your search with an honest prayer to God that he lead you in his truth and not the "truths" of your own imaginations.
By the way: a faithful reading of 1Corinthians 2 will teach you how "no man Knoweth" is language pointing at the unsaved condition of mankind and that the True Believer (chosen by God) can know all things because he is given "a new spirit and the mind of Christ".
The Mayan Calendar ends in 2012 at the Winter Solstis…but they don't tell you or you have not heard that it recycles again….sorry the world will not end in 2012….it will end when God says it will end….
Best to watch this video on the paranoia of 2012 …..

The Mayans never predicted any "end",but a "great Cycle".maybe, the Earth will go back to normal and will suck in all oil, poisons, etc…for you religious fanatical Christians;I think your safe and you don't have to worry about an ending anytime soon!
I think that all the Mayans just died and didn't have time to finish their calendar. Now everyone thinks "they think the world will end" when really they just all disappeared and didn't finish the calendar.
The ones who take that sh*t seriously are MORONS.
Same reasons many people believe in silly things…
No, youre wrong. The world won't end, but a change will come. Something big is gonna happen.
Same reasons people believe in Christianity. They're idiots.
I haven't met anyone who believed any of this yet.
One of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or about 5125 years. The next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. this is not a prediction of the end of the world. here is what a Mayan elder says on the subject: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopi…
These predictions are scare tactics, conspiracy theories, and chances to make money from books and movies.
Ever since the Y2K and 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenarios did not pan out, the scare mongers, conspiracy theorists, book sellers, and television executives have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. when 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.
Here is also what NASA thinks about the 2012 End of the World scenario: http://pwg.gsfc.nasa.gov/stargaze/StarFA…

"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)
Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.
The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.
The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.
Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

Why do people take the Mayan calendar and 2012 seriously?
