Do you believe the predictions of Nostradamus?

do you believe he really did predict 9:11 and princes Diana's death or was it coincidence. also do you believe his prediction that the world will end in 2012? i do!

i thought it was the MAYAN calendar that predicted the 2012 thing.

yep, Nostradamus says something like 3937.
or 3739.

congratulations, you have won the all things to all people interpretation prize. nostradamus wrote lots and lots of things in a language other than english. not only do we have the problem of translating from one language to another but also trying to understand intellectually the concepts and time-basedd meanings his writings contain. from ambiguity one can tease out a variety of interpretations, so the more ambiguous something is the more you can pull out of it.

but i wonder if nostradamus really had a clue, why he would be concerned with diana rather than giving us the cure for cancer.

Do you believe the predictions of Nostradamus?

Are there any Bookmakers taking bets on the 2012 prediction about the end of the world?

I wouldn't mind a piece of that action!!

If you win(Betting the world will end in 2012)…..how do you collect?

I have a feeling many of you are unknowingly betting your souls on the outcome of the End, I think most of you are on the wrong horse…..it will be too late when you hear the result.

I don't think it will be 2012 but it will be soon.

America is about to Meltdown financially, there is a major war looming in the Middle East, North Korea is threatening War, Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Weather Change pollution etc etc. and most of you come here to ridicule and put down.
Thumbs down is your bet for the day. Sucker bet.

We are in the End Times….be sure of it….where will you spend eternity?

2Pe 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
2Pe 3:4 and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
2Pe 3:5 for this they willingly are ignorant of,

There should be. too many people believe it isn't going to end, so they'll make mad profit when it does.

Yeah of course there is, but I bet they'd be peeved off when they lose.

Lol…and if you are betting the world ends on 2012, what do you really win???

(this is why the answer is no)

I'll bet anyone cash that it won't happen. because hey, if it does, what do I lose?

I bet 2012 will be nothing special

Are there any Bookmakers taking bets on the 2012 prediction about the end of the world?

I read 2012 isn't the end of the world, its in fact a new begining in time?

Some modern mayans even say it is a cause for celebration, not the day of the apocolypse. They predicted that for much later in time. also I read almost 90% of Nostrodamous prediction were wrong.

Nope, end of the world.

you could be right. all we know is that the mayan calendar ends on that day. maybe it was the day when they would all celebrate and go like "wow guys! our culture's survived for __ centuries! yay us!"

It will be what it will be when it is

…agree, a celebration – Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!…

there will always be persons to 'predict' the future… however notice that the majority of them that predicted… predicted 'occurrences' to occur centuries, or even millenia after they and those who could call foul were dead.

any person can claim any one thing or numerous occurrences will occur in the future and get at lea st one thing correct… think of it, there are billions upon billions of persons here at present, meaning billions upon billions of occurrences likely to be caused by humans alone… not including by mother nature…v

i'll give you a prediction… taxes will increase, more diseases, hunger, famine, poverty, drought and war will occur this year, and between now and 2012 a minimum of half a million persons will die…

I have also heard it is simply the end of an era. Speaking of new beginnings…

Every moment is a new beginning in time!

That's why the sun rises and sets every single day, to emphasize having a fresh start, a chance to change old bad habits.

Every day we wake up to new possibilities and opportunities with the ability to ask ourselves "how can I live my life differently for the better today?"

World will not end in 2012 – check the latest interpretation of Mayan calendars.

It is the end of great calendar cycle in Mayan society, much like our modern society celebrated the new millennium.

What's this doomsday, Mayan calander, 2012 prophecy?

Explain please.

Just type in "2012" in Google, (or any other search engine), and you'll get more information on the subject than you can handle!
(By the way, it's also in one of the Egyption pyramids.)

Renowned British scientist Sir Isaac Newton, the father of modern physics and astronomy, predicted the world would end in 2060 in a 1704 letter that went on show in Jerusalem

The Mayan calendar ran in cycles of (I think) 3000 years; even though the Mayans are no more, their calendar is still running, and the current cycle is calculated to end in 2012. many people think that means that the world will end then.

It's just a calendar, people…

This is the calandar that is supposed to tell us when the end of days is coming. we don't know what will happen, or what time it will happen, we don't even know what day or month it will happen, but we know something will happen in 2012. it could be a major flood, or the ring of fire might erupt, or a comet could come crashing down and kills us all.

What's this doomsday, Mayan calander, 2012 prophecy?

Planet Nibiru and the Mayans 2012?

i heard the mayans are coming back with space ships like the movie Independence day 2 , that the mayans put the Cristal skull to the people and die , its that true or is false info

Wow, that sounds so plausible.

So you're just going to change names and ask the same question over and over again?

Planet Nibiru was invented by Zecharia Sitchin in the late 1960s. In his story, it is not coming back until 2085.

The Mayans did not go anywhere, therefore they cannot "come back".

The movie Independence Day 2 is only Hollywood fiction (and not even good fiction).

Crystal skulls were fabricated in Europe less than 200 years ago. Another Hollywood movie linked them with Mayans.

No match, the board goes back.

I saw a question about the same premise yesterday. my answer is still the same. Maybe you can get to the Indiana Jones writers and sell them the idea for a movie script.

No, just cause you heard it doesn't make it true. Go to Guatemala, and talk to the Maya descendants. They're not worried about it. I'm looking forward to January 2013.

To heck with Return of the Jedi!

I'm looking forward to your "Return of the Mayans" movie!

"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls" was Steven Spielberg taking a page from George Lucas' playbook about how to screw with all of our childhood memories and turn them sad and ugly.

The movie STANK. it was a rancid pile of steaming offal (very similar to Lucas' last three movies), that was FULL of plot holes.

My guess is Spielberg hired a freshman out of a college Creative Writing class and told him to come up with a script in a weekend. Then stiffed him for his pay. well, you get what you pay for.

Here's to all the Lead-Lined Refrigerators out there!

(they shoulda stopped at 3)

PS Nibiru doesn't exist. only really really dumb people believe in it.

the Mayans are gone. GOOD RIDDANCE! what a wacky culture! they even made the 15th century Spanish look good.

"Hey, what do you MEAN they made the Spanish look good?"

"I wasn't expecting some kind of Spanish Inquisition…"

<blam>

Hey that would make a neat sci-fi movie!

Ha, Indeed!
But i'm gonna stop them by using my special ability's to kill them before they kill any humans- im god's warrior.

:)

seriously YES there coming, do some research but i dont know if they will harm us NIBIRU will be seen very soon and its bigger than earth 100 times bigger

Planet Nibiru and the Mayans 2012?

How does the Catholic Church interpret the End Times?

I know that the majority of Protestants believe in the rapture. Though I'm curious to know what is the belief of the end Times according to the Catholic Church. I know they do not believe in the rapture or the fictional Left behind series. Can someone explain to me the Catholic doctrine of the end Times?

I have been studying up on the end of times and it is sad for me to say that I will die in the end of times because pal believe or not we all are in the end of times. The horns blowing will pass and man as we know will vanish only those chosen by God will remain I hope I am one of the chosen. I will hate to burn and be punished I love God and all christians alike I made mistakes but I do not want to burn no one wants too. Bless you all during these dark days. I will try to be more friendly and more nice to everyone no matter what. love you guys. and no I am not psychotic this plea is coming from the heart and for those who are not christians I beg for you to take the lord into your hearts…..

The first poster is confusing a so-called prophecy of a period of time in which God is going to "cleanse the earth", not the end Times. I personally have not been able to confirm that any of the saints or holy persons named in regards to such a prophecy actually wrote or said anything about a period of three-days-of-darkness, and the Church has no official teaching of it to my knowledge.

But in answer to your question, if you want to know what the Church actually teaches on the so-called "End-Times" you can simply read about it in the Catholic Catechism. If you don't want to pick one up somewhere, it is available online at this website http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/_I… (Go to Section TWO I. The Creeds, Chapter 2, Article 7 that should pretty much sum it up for you). Hope that helps!

The so-called "three days of darkness" and other nonsense described by the first poster are NOT part of Catholic teaching. these ideas are from a self-styled "seer" and "prophetess" who has not been approved by the Church. In fact the Church has issued warnings against listening to her. What the Church teaches is simply this – that Jesus Christ will come again in glory at the end of the world. The bodies of the saved will be raised and ascend as he Himself did. The bodies of the damned will likewise be raised and reunited with their souls in hell. all of natural creation, the universe, matter, energy, space and time will then cease to exist. Only eternity will remain.

Matthew 24:36 (NIV Version)
"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

It's as simple as that. :-)

EDIT: I have added several other Bible translations for everyone else to compare. :-)

Matthew 24:36 (King James Version)
36But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Matthew 24:36 (New American Standard Bible)
36"but (A)of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.

Matthew 24:36 (21st Century King James Version)
36But of that day and hour, knoweth no man, no, not the angels of Heaven, but my Father only.

"but of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. be watchful! be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)

Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.

Each new Christian denomination seems to worry about the end of the world a bit too much. Then after a couple of centuries, they realize that there are always wars and rumors of wars, etc.

I won't even mention the hundreds of false predictions of the end of the world over the centuries, all of which were based on individual interpretations of biblical prophecies.

The first century Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.

The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.

Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

For more information, about what Catholics believe about the end of the world, see: http://www.americancatholic.org/Newslett…

With love in Christ.

I perfectly know this:
We Catholics all agree that JESUS will return bodily, after there has been some sort of age long conflict between CHRIST's People and antichrist. right thinking Catholics see an era of Christian Victory over all that is antichristian as equalling the Millennium. some diverge from what the first Fathers taught, saying it is literally true of a period of time, but that it needn't be literally that amount of time. this is a norrower view than was first established as Catholic in the beginning.

Augustine departed from the literal view of Barnabas, which he once held – likely in being baptised and confirmed he believed this, with the older generation of Catholics which his mother, Monica, belonged to. he then re-interpretted the period of Peace as being the whole Christian era, though this does not match what the Fathers had already said, nor does it match the reality of satan unbound in the world in islam.

St.Patrick knew of no secret rapture, but stressed the Last Day, the only day that the Scriptures absolutely associate with the bodily return of JESUS. anyone that wishes to learn the whole Catholic eschatology, which I need more space to infold, please contact me at vatrishnai@gmail.com

We believe in a Rapture on the Last Day, after the Millennium, regardless of personal disagreements about what the Millennium is. No Catholic dogma ever contradicted the earliest patristic views on escatology, however private minds look around or through the unchanging Tradition.

Catholic writers have taken an interest in the end Times all through history.

To clarify, though, the end of days are not the whole of the Latter Days. "Latter Dys" refers not to the end of the age, but to all time after a demarcation in time, made by the Advent of JESUS' Incarnation. all time before are the former Days, aka BC, and all since the Latters Days, aka AD.

Pretty much – that it will happen and that it will be obvious when it's happeneing. We're more worried about being prepared for it than we are about when or how it's going to happen.

If you would like more answers, consider asking around this site as well…

http://christianforums.com/forumdisplay.…

Well, you asked.
The end times are going to be bad.
the bible refers to it as the Tribulation.

to clarify, the below prophecy HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE CHURCH. it has been prophesied by many Catholic Saints.

The three Days of Darkness
by Yves Dupont

THE ACT OF GOD

The most spectacular aspect of the Act of God will be the three days of darkness over the whole earth. The three Days have been announced by many mystics, viz., Bl.Anna-Maria Taigi, Padre Pio, Elizabeth Canori-Mora, Rosa-Colomba Asdente, Palma d'Oria, in Italy; Father Nectou, in Belgium; St. Hildegard, in Germany; Pere Lamy, Marie Baourdi, Marie Martel, Marie-Julie Jahenny, in France. (This list is not exhaustive; many more mystics have announced the three Days.)

The Church does not oblige us to believe in any particular prophecy as a matter of faith, but we are indeed obliged to believe that prophecies may be made even in our own times, for this is in the Gospel: the Holy Ghost will speak to many in the Latter Days.

Moreover, when an identical prophecy has been made by widely separated people in time and space, when this particular prophecy was accompanied by other predictions which have already come to pass, and when the holiness of the mystics in question has been recognized by the Church, we would be foolish indeed not to believe that the prophecy must come to pass. Such is the case concerning the three Days of Darkness. how else could we explain that an illiterate peasant woman of Brittany is describing the very thing that another mystic in, say, Germany or Italy is also describing?

THE PROXIMATE SIGNS

Here are the proximate signs in their probable order of occurrence. this, to be sure, is only my own opinion, and I may be wrong for I am no prophet myself; but, after studying a large number of prophecies, this order appears to me to be the most likely:

1. Flouting of church laws, irreverence and immodesty in church, fall in attendance at church.
2. Lack of charity towards others, heartlessness, indifference, divisions, contentions, godlessness, pride in human knowledge.
3. Breakdown of family life: immorality, adultery, perversion of youth (e.g. homosexuals giving lectures in schools), immodest fashions (e.g. mini-skirts and hot pants, bikinis and see-throughs), people concerned only with eating, drinking, dancing and other pleasures.
4. Civil commotions, contempt for authority, downfall of governments, confusion in high places, corruption, coups d'etat, civil war, revolution. (The first four proximate signs have already come to pass, at least partly; for we are yet to see civil war and revolution in the West. but the sequence of events is not strictly chronological; there is room for some overlapping. thus, the 5th proximate sign seems to have begun also.)
5. Floods and droughts, crop failures, unusual weather, tornadoes, earthquakes, tidal waves, famines, epidemics, unknown diseases (e.g. new strains of viruses).

THE WARNING AND THE MIRACLE

These will take place between the proximate and the immediate signs. both will be supernatural occurrences, and the Miracle will closely follow the Warning. There will be a solar prodigy; a Cross will be visible in the sky all over the world. The Warning will be associated with the letter "A"; it will not fall on a Feast day of our Lady, nor on the l8th of the month.

The Miracle will fall on the Feast day of a young martyr of the Eucharist; this will be on a Thursday evening, and it will coincide with an important Church event.

Since the Miracle is to be seen only in Northern Spain and in Rome, and since the Cross in the sky is to be seen everywhere, it seems that the latter occurrence will take place with the Warning, not with the Miracle. However, the Miracle may also have a Cross in the sky.

During the Warning, everyone will be made aware of his/her own sinfulness, and many will wish to die, but the Warning itself will be completely harmless.

Both the Warning and the Miracle must be viewed as the last act of mercy from God, a final appeal to mankind to do penance before the three days of darkness and the destruction of three-quarters of the human race. At a time when the murder of unborn babies and the sin of Sodom and Lesbos have become respectable and sometimes legal, we should not wonder why God is going to punish mankind.

By that time, war and revolution will have already caused a high deathtoll, and Communism will be victorious, but all this will be as nothing compared with the deathtoll caused by the three Days.

THE IMMEDIATE SIGN

It will be a bitterly cold winter night in the Northern hemisphere. (Presumably, a very cold summer night in Australia or, by contrast, a torrid night.) The wind will howl and roar. Lightning and thunderbolts of an unprecedented magnitude will strike the earth. The whole earth will shake, heavenly bodies will be disturbed – (this will be the beginning of the three Days). every Demon, every evil spirit will be released from hell and allowed to roam the earth. Terrifying apparitions will take place. many will die from sheer fright. fire will rain forth from the sky, all large cities will be destroyed, poison

How does the Catholic Church interpret the End Times?

Are the uprisings a sign that the end of 2012 will really become a different world?

Don't get me wrong, I don't actually think anything is going to happen when the Mayan Calender ends…but I'm just using my imagination and exploring very unlikely possibilities. Do you think, with what has been happening in Egypt and the Middle East…that by the end of 2012, the world we live in could be totally different? Maybe we'll destroy ourselves…maybe we'll work together and find peace…

Not so much because of the Mayan prophesies, as I understand them, but because God revealed through the prophets Daniel and John the Apostle that things would be a certain way. God let me know what to look for. I'm still waiting for Turkey to erupt like the other nations. I'm not too concerned with Saudi Arabia or any nation in Africa besides Egypt, but more with the nations in the ancient Medo-Persian area.

Revelation 13
2 The beast I saw resembled a leopard, —>but had feet like those of a bear<— and a mouth like that of a lion.

The bear, leopard, and lion are clues to Daniel 7; images which also appear there. The bear image was about the Medo-Persian Empire. It is where this 10 nation kingdom will form.

So 2012 could be an accurate time, but it's biblical prophecy that I draw from as the source for accuracy.

EDIT: I'm not understanding that we will destroy ourselves, but that it is right on the verge of the great Tribulation.

I think that if something does happen, it will only affect Mexico, southern United States and most of Central America. The Mayans were accurate, but they didn't know about the _entire_ world, only the immediate area.

So if something happens, we Americans are screwed.
That said, I don't believe anything will happen.

Well, what did Jesus say?

Luke 17:26-27 …'And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.'

So life will carry on as normal for the majority, right up until Christ Jesus returns at the second coming. so no, there won't be a "new" kind of world or a "different" kind of world, it will be the same sinful world as it was in Noah's day and today, where the majority of people reject God and live for themselves. http://www.endtimes-bibleprophecy.com/pa…

Just a question:
A lot of people are talking about the end of 2012 ( don't know how they came up with it in the first place)

Why do you put your hope up a date? Is your world going to fall apart when nothing happens?
Serve God from your heart , not for a date.
His day will come in his time not our time !

Nope but the earth quake in New Zealand is. Notice how natural disasters are becoming more common? Count the number in the past 3 years and compare them to in the past and you'll see their getting more and more closer together.

2012 is just the end of the Mayan CALENDAR, not the world. There's a difference.

This is reflective of the revolutions during the early 1900's.

So no.

These are momentous times.

No, it's more of a sign that the people of the Middle East are sick of their dictators.

No.

The world is constantly changing. Small revolutions happen all the time and a couple in early 2011 are neither signs that 2012 will be the end of the world not even a "different world."

With love in Christ.

No…some signs of the end of the world are decreasing morality (gay pride, for example), and Satan ruling the churches, both of which are happening today. Judgment Day is may 21st, 2011. Pray now for mercy and salvation while there is still time and read the Bible, it is the infallible Word of God:

Romans 10:17 so then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

Are the uprisings a sign that the end of 2012 will really become a different world?

Do you think the worlds going to end in 2012?

ive been hearing things about doomsday being in 2012. does anyone belive this? wasnt june 6th 2006 supposed to be the day of the devil? and wasnt the world also gonna end in 2000? should i belive this stuff?

Ok 1. Y2k was a bunch of bullsh!t it was based on the theorie that the computers could only date to 2000 so ppl assumed that was the end

2.6.6.06 was when the son of the devil was supposed to be born but who's to say he wasn't its only been 3 years so it could be a while when he does anything major

3. The new theorie is based on the mayan calender when its starts again because its finished its 15 major cycles but it wasn't once said the world will end just that there is a new beggining so there will be great change when this happens nibiru is on its next orbit this planet that dwarfs saturn atm its is currupting saturns orbit so we are expected to see it pass around the sun and leave causing mass devistation to earth and the magnet poles. it is also believed that hundreds of years ago a pope had to name 150 popes that will follower in his thrown and the 150th pope is in power now the one who is believed to make the cathalic church implode on its self and many other religons to boot so that will be the end of that any way hope this helped

According to the prophecies.

In December 2012 Nibiru will finally reach the neighbourhood of Earth and the Annunaki will invade again, hoping to enslave humans again to mine gold for them. Imagine their disappointment when planet X also appears out of nowhere and causes a pole shift, thereby making a really big mess of Earth and probably Nibiru too.

Simultaneously, all the planets in our solar system will align as the Earth enters the photon belt around the seven Sisters, creating a spiritual paradigm shift among humans, passes through the galactic central plane and the Earth, Sun and the galactic centre all line up. this will of course send the Earth spiralling into the Sun, or maybe away from it, or into the galactic centre, or maybe not, just as a solar storm rages up and causes another pole shift on Earth.

Meanwhile, the Earth is being pounded by huge asteroids and all the bees in North America will drop dead, probably killed by swine flu.

If there are other obscure and contradictory prophecies from the outer Mongolians, Pitjantjatjara, Calthumpians, pseudo historians and fake scientists or other improbable or impossible global disaster scenarios, they are all just as true too and will (not) happen simultaneously.

Head for the hills.

In short, every damn word is a lie intended to sell fake survival books, cheap videos and fraudulent "documentaries" to irresponsible TV networks.

I don't be-leave it all i know is the planets will be in perfect alignment which it only does that once every several thousand years. Another thing that will happen in 2012 is a meteorite will get close enough to Earth to dip below our communication satellites.

An agent psychic said this and he was very accurate. The roman empire calandar ended in 20012 and he said the world would end. he also predicted world war 2 would be by histler, which was really hitler, and said many would die. so any things possible.

wellif the olympics dont go well we may be bombed by a lot of different contries……sooooo the ukmay go but the rest of you may be safe:-P……then again ………neeehhhhhh if eny place is dead b then it will be england…and most likely leicester….this place is sooooo boringly great that its greatness shall be destroyed in 2012 by the rath of the cheese and sock god….and all shall bow down befor her…run my minions…run from my lazer cats with the bucket of tea on there heads mwaaaahaaaah….run……run from MEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!ahahahahahahahahaha….… …ehm… ehh …..sorry i erm dont know what got into me there ;-D……..eny ways in summery ….no one will be destroyed by a evil cheese god called tilly.:-) …honestly…..hope this helps…(and no nightmares)…..xxx :-)

I don't! I think this is just superstition. but if we don't find peace, it may happen. The world may launch into a crazy war. Children might die. so Please people, don't hate! Learn to love each other no matter what. ( ok so that was really cheesy but u get the point)

december 23 2012 i think is the date the Mayan calendar ends. When their calendar is done people believe that its time for the world to end but it can mean they just did not finish it!

No. That's just bull crap…I am pretty sure they said that in the like 90's that they world would end in 2000…it's 2009 ppl!

i think walmart will go bankrupt in 2012
if they are so rich, why are they borrowing money to buy items now?

nooo! its all poop that people make up for kicks.

No!!!!!!! I don't

Do you think the worlds going to end in 2012?

According to the prophet isaac newton the world is ending in 2060 not like mayans 2012?

then we have more time according to isaac newton? which do you believe in the prophet isaac newton or the mayan prophecy?

I like this Jew who claims Isaac Newton was Noah reincarnated.

http://www.inner.org/archive.htm

Isaac Newton the scientist?

He's a prophet now?

And who said you couldn't learn anything from answers hey?

According to the prophet isaac newton the world is ending in 2060 not like mayans 2012?

What is so rational about the 2012 Mayan prophecies, as compared to other previous prophecies?

It is not a prophecy….it's just the end of their calendar

There is nothing rational about ANY of these so-called "prophesies". They're ALL utter BS.

Absolutely nothing.

What I find amusing is the number of so-called Christians who say they believe the world will end in 2012!

there is no prophecy
thats just when there calender ended like the end of the year for us

It's an excellent demonstration to show that people are willing to believe just about anything.

The Mayans never even prophesied the end of the world. but you pay good money for tabloids why would they ruin the story by telling the truth?

Apocalyptic disasters are more probable than the 'second coming' of JC.

What is so rational about the 2012 Mayan prophecies, as compared to other previous prophecies?
