Will the world end on December 21 2012? On this date the Mayan Calendar comes to an end. What does this have to do with the end of the world as we know it?
The Mayan Calendar. What makes this calendar so important? Why all the fascination today about the Mayan Calendar? For one it is the most accurate calendar ever developed by man. It is so accurate that it foretells planetary, lunar, and solar events thousands of years before they happen. It is predicting something for us in 2012.
The 12 21 2012 date is the end of the Mayan Calendar which happens to be the end of the long cycle in the Mayan Calendar. The long cycle is made up of much shorter cycles which have been accurate to the day in predicting cycles in the Solar System. Given this accuracy and the 12 21 2012 date we must take note in events that are happening now and those predicted to happen within the 2012 time frame.
The ending of the long cycle on 12 21 2012 has garnered much attention from those who have just heard about it and others who have been fascinated with this date since the 1970′s. Those who have been students of the Mayan Calendar are quite concerned that something will happen on this date. There are many new students who think that it will be the end of one long cycle and the beginning of another.
Should we be concerned with 2012? What if there was something that we knew was going to happen no matter what? What if there was something so powerful coming that it could cause major disruptions on earth? Is there anything that supports the 2012 date?
If there is no data confirming the 2012 and no reputable people making predictions for 2012 then we would just take the Mayan Calendar ending on December 21 2012 lightly. But what if we had a prediction from a very reputable scientist or even scientist that something major was coming in the 2012 time period?
What if we found not one but two very reputable scientist who say that a major planetary event is coming in 2011 or 2012? In fact, they are saying this without a doubt because it happens every 50 years or so and gets greater each time it happens. Because the world has changed so much in the last 50 years, this event will be more far reaching than anytime in this planet’s history.
If you see a storm brewing on the horizon, you know it is coming your way, what do you do? You can react to it or you can prepare for it. It is the one who prepares for the storm that survives. How can you get ready for the events predicted for 2012?

Throughout time, several people have proposed specific dates in which the world as we know it would end. Most of these days have come and gone, but one day in particular still rings out. You see as many have heard of Y2K and other times of assured Armageddon, perhaps the most discussed and consistent date has yet to arrive. December 21, 2012 is the date that so many people in the past have predicted to be the end. So the question must be asked, 2012 Doomsday Fact or Fiction?
The most popular starting point for the predictions of 2012 rests with the ancient Mayan culture. Their elaborate grasp of mathematics and the movement of the parts of the solar system suggest their knowledge was well beyond its time. They designed a calendar that has been on point with various changes and happenings in space.
This same calendar mysteriously ends on December 21, 2012 with no explanation. Some say it is the calendar simply starting over at 1, while others feel as though they ended it to symbolize the end of the world.
In roughly 2900 B. C., the I Ching or Book of Change was also credited with an eerie calculation to December of 2012. This came in the form of a graph created using patterns from the I Ching; Terrance McKenna created the graph itself. This graph’s peaks have so far corresponded to various changes in the world; it too mysteriously stops in 2012.
Yet another source convincing people of impending doom in 2012 is the Web Bot. This software is designed to calculate through discussions and general behavioral trends potential changes in the world. The software was actually developed to assist in predicting the fluctuation of the stock market. Its notoriety began when it predicted to a fair degree of accuracy the events of 9/11. Now, it predicts a worldwide calamity in 2012.
Some scientists believe, that if all the planets were to line up in a straight line, this would create a huge black hole in the middle of the Milky Way. Oh, did I mention that the Mayans predicted such an event on the last day or their calendar? Or that our scientists believe its going to happen in 2012 too?
You can spend hours online looking at everyone’s proof that the world is going to end in 2012. To be fair, there have been hundreds of days that people have sworn was to be the end of the world, and yet here we are. For every argument, someone has a sensible counter point. The Mayan calendar, many believe it to be starting over, and not ending. The Web Bot, while it might have predicted things like 9/11, has been wrong many times.
For every doomsday theory, especially those surrounding 2012, there is an equal argument on either side of the coin. The truth is you need to decide if you believe it to be true or not, and if you do, you should prepare yourself how best you see fit.

News papers, magazines and books printed on paper are obsolete. I can say that because I am a reader. When was 12 years old I set out to read every book in my local library, I was making good headway, but I ran into two problems they kept buying new books and I went away to college. My college library was like reading heaven, at the time it was the largest library for several states. Then came the best part, after college it was no more library for me, it became buy books and bookshelves to keep them. The point is I love to read newspapers, magazines and books but, their time on paper has come and I am sorry to say gone.
The news papers printed on paper are on the same track as say the steam locomotive. It was great for a time, it changed the world, but when it’s time came it went kicking and screaming to the museum like all the other out modes. Today, like most I read my newspapers, a total of five, the New York Times, The Washington Post and three state newspapers without touching a piece of paper. We can save the tree now, it is so obvious that news on printed paper is obsolete. I know the tree cutters, paper mills, printing press manufacturers, pressmen, ink makers, truck drivers, delivery drivers will all have adjustments to make. That is just part of that kicking and screaming on the way to the museum that will never go away.
The magazines have been on a downward spiral since the advent of the TV newsmagazine shows like “60 Minutes”, which started in 1968. The industry has been losing its market share for over 40 years, why do we need magazines printed on paper? What are we saving? I know the presses are a better class of machine and the ink is more costly, but, we need to send them all to the museum. The kicking and screaming will be loud but we can save the tree now. The thing is most of them have an electronic version in place.
Books have been available in electronic format for years. I read ebooks on my first Palm Pilot. The industry even attempts to prevent books from being placed in electronic format. This is like the railroads fighting the advent of the passenger airline, why does anyone listen? There are something like a million and a half volumes that are electronic today. The biggest hold back is a format war like the VHS vs Beta or IBM vs everybody but Apple battles of the past. Books will all be electronic, everyone knows it is coming, we can save the tree now.
Just one more example of an out mode that proves my point. A couple years ago I purchased this Palm unit that did everything, ebooks, newspapers, email, calendar, contacts, electronic transfers, it even understands hand writing. Now I have a telephone that is about the same size that does all that plus surf the internet, take pictures, make movies, be a GPS locater and there is no end to what it can do. So why do we need news printed on paper?
The question should be, where to buy a kindle electronic reader? The future is electronic, just like on “Star Trek”, what I am waiting for is the transporter. I think I will continue this to include more out modes, if you have any good ones leave me a comment here or on my Internet Business Blog.

Ive heard about Y2 and the 2005 scenario but do you believe the earth will come to an end? In the back of my mind im scared because i wont even graduate by then sometimes i say no but all the tv shows about “Doomsday” makes me think otherwise
Thanks Everyone
The TV shows are billed as ‘entertainment’ although they masquerade as documentaries. they are in the business of pulling in viewers and if they can do that with old footage of floods and storms plus lots of sensationalistic nonsensical predictions, then that’s what they will broadcast, even though it has little connection with reality.
2012 is entirely made up by a bunch of new-age weirdos and woo-woos who all like to make out that they’re some sort of prophet in order to have people take notice of them. all their claims of doomsday are complete nonsense – and I do mean all.
The people you should be taking notice of are scientists and they say nothing will happen.
The date of 2012 is a real phenomenon unlike anything that has come before. It’s real, and this is already seen today as events fall in line on the nightly news. 2012 is the “end of the world”, but that isn’t the misuse of world as planet. the true meaning of the term world translated means “age of man”. It’s the end of the civilization of mankind.
Science states man as we think of our selves has been around for 125 thousand years, but we have only been able to gather a 8-10 thousand year written record. Before this across the globe and through civilizations all that remains is ancient mythologies of even older worlds and destructive epics. We’re in a cycle and it is that time again.

We all want to say its not gonna happen and we don’t believe that….
But I think it might not the way the movies are but it looks like its happening slowly like look at the
poor polar bears there ice is melting and they’re dieing. all the floods everywhere. the crazy weather were getting. earthquakes and tornado’s happening where they never do, its crazzzy.
Just live every moment of your life!
Being unable to swear on such a forum, i’ll merely say i believe it to be incorrect.
It doesn’t state a ‘doomsday’, it just happens to be the year which holds the date in which the Mayan Calendar ends.
I actually got out of R&S to rest from these questions. but I’m a believer in the word of God, and the 2012 theory is false.
Receive Christ and enjoy life, being grateful to the Lord for all things.
Ain’t going to happen. best we can hope for is that all the virgins in the world will fall for this and screw the first people they meet.
idk… their is not much proof if it will happen and there is no proof that it wont happen. but i would would rather die in 2012. because if ur a survivor, then u have no food, or anythng that u have
i hate the Mayans i don’t believe them i believe native americans they were one with the land and the the earth
no way that is a loads of bannanas the world will not end in 2012 however i do have a feeling some extraordanary might happen
i think we have to wait and see
edit: im not saying its true but if they do one day find out that somethings gonna happen, i CANT wait to rub it in ppl faces
its the most ridiculous thing ever
I think it’s Grade-A Baloney.
its a big load of bullcrap, just like christianity.
I think it’s bullsh*t
i think it’s bullcrap
I hope it don’t. If it does i wasted all my life at school.
What do you think about the whole 2012 theory?

Whether or not you believe in the Aztec 2012 Prophecy, it’s worth disseminating exactly what this theory is rooted in, it’s worth looking at the facts and making one’s own decision from there. First of all, don’t believe anybody until you’ve done some research yourself. But anyways, here are the basics of where this idea came from.
Where Does It All Start?
The concept of the 2012 Prophecy actually comes from the fact that the Mayan calendar ends on 2012. Beyond that, there’s absolutely nothing specific in any Aztec or Mayan texts. There really isn’t. There’s been a whole lot of post-mortem analysis, a lot of people suggesting that the REASON that the Mayan calendar ends there is because that’s when the apocalypse was to take place, but unless we ever find some Mayan texts that reference that, that explain why the calendar ends there, then there’s no way of telling exactly why it ends there.
What Keeps it Going?
It’s an interesting theory. The Mayans had incredibly advanced science for their time, and if they actually thought that something was going to happen on 2012, then it does warrant some interest and discussion, because it may well be rooted in some fairly accurate science of the Mayan people. It’s a self-perpetuating meme, so to speak. The idea is a fascinating one, as well as a somewhat frightening one, and this leads to things like the Roland Emmerich film based on the theory, it leads people from both sides of the theory to do research and to publish their own works on the theory. It’s just interesting.
Is it True?
There’s really no way to prove or disprove the 2012 theory. Like cryptozoology, the whole prophecy is like Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster or UFOs. You can’t prove it until there’s some more solid evidence, and you can’t disprove it because you can’t prove a negative. The only way we’ll know for sure what happens in that year is to wait until that year rolls around and, well, see what happens. The downside is that, if the prophecy is right, there will be nobody to say “I told you so”.
How Does The Scientific Community React To This?
The whole prophecy is considered a sort of a fringe subject, and as such, very little attention is paid to the theory in the mainstream scientific community. However, a lot of scientists on the edge of mainstream academia have put some interesting work and research into the subject. As of yet, results have proven inconclusive, because, well, there’s no way of knowing for sure until the year comes around. Until then, the debate is almost meaningless simply because it’s a theory that can be neither proven nor disproven. Still, many people will be waiting eagerly, or with a sense of dread and anticipation, for the year to roll around so that we can settle the whole argument once and for all and really see if there’s any truth in the prophecy itself. Until then, little can be done to prove the argument in one direction or the other.
