Is it true that the world will end in December 2012?

I keep on wondering about if the world will actually end in 2012 and I was just thinking that there is a bunch of yahoo users, so if anyone thinks they know the answer please tell me.

No one will truly know. People beilieve that the calender points to the end but the Mayan calender has ended before and did the world end? No! the Mayans proably all died out before they could finish the calender. everyone believes they know when the world will end but if you are catholic or even Jewish the bible states that no one will truly know when the world end, except god, and we all must be prepared to be judged.

Nope.

But my 2011 — 2012 "Yahoo Answers" calendar will end, unless they send me a new one.

Didn't three crackpots already predict the end of the world this year — I mean, it's supposed to be stopped already.

You need to get a copy of Hal Lindsey's book, "the Late Great Planet Earth." it was published in the 1970's, was very popular. I think they even made a movie out of it, and the author appeared on lots of TV evengelist's programs and became quite rich from prophesying the end of the Earth, which was supposed to have already happened.

====

Religious people do this all the time . . . Christians started doing it a few weeks after Jesus died, and never quite stopped. And loopy schizophrenics from other religions have been doing the same thing for thousands of years, too.

So.

The only thing that is likely to end is your calendar. And you can always buy another one if Yahoo doesn't send you one either.

None of the predicted doomsday events will happen. the whole thing is an invention by a bunch of frauds and crackpots trying to get you to buy worthless books and videos. None of it has any basis in real science. the people promoting this have no knowledge of science. they just like to pretend to be knowledgeable in order to impress the gullible. Don't be one of the gullible.
There is no 'ancient prediction' by the Mayans or anyone else. These were all invented in the last 30 years.
There is no 'mystery planet' about to pass by. Why don't the fraudsters tell us its current location in the sky, so we can all look at it? You decide.
There will be no rare alignment, either planetary or galactic. When was the last alignment that caused us any problems anyway?
There will be no pole shift. A magnetic pole shift is not imminent and probably tens of thousands of years away. A sudden rotational pole shift is a physical impossibility.
The next solar maximum is expected in mid 2013, not 2012 and is expected to be less intense than the last maximum in 2001.
Other predictions such as the photon belt and Terence McKenna's Timewave zero are just too silly to bother with.

this has been asked many many many times here on y/a and i will give you my standard answer…

i do not have faith in the predictions of those purported to have been cannibals and who sacrificed animals and humans to prevent the end of the world. and of which ended up becoming conquered by others and nearly exterminated…

Nobody can know for sure unless they've been into the future, or seen the future, but I highly doubt that the world's going to end anytime during our lifetime!

Oh yes, were all going to die.

There is no way to tell

yes, we are going to die in 2012. mayan says so.

Is it true that the world will end in December 2012?

Do you think the world is going to end in 2012?

& they made a movie about it.thats creepy !
w t h ?
i saw the preview for it,it was about the world ending in 2012
it may make a lot of money..but thats just creepy man=/
what do you think?

yeah were all going to burn when we get engulfed by the sun in 2012.

when we all went to school can you remember how all the kids used to say oh god the world is going to end in 5 hours we all used to be screaming around the playground the world was going to end so no im grown up now and don't believe in this any more i think were all quite safe im none too sure about the war and disease but i assure you were all safe for now

I highly doubt it, I remember it was supposed to end in 1999, never happened, ten years later we are still here. Was supposed to happen last year in September, yet again it didn't happen. Was also supposed to happen on 06/06/2006, again never happened.

I don't believe it, and neither should any one else, they are all theory's.

Yes the world is going to end in 2012.

Nostradamus also predicted that this present system will end in 2012, bringing in a new, fairer, more advanced human age, where all men, women, children of all races & all animals, are treated as equals.

Then again the bible says god will be back to save the planet from mankinds destruction.
So that's a weirdo fortune-teller who wrote in riddles
or an avenging miffed off super-being ready to throw satan, plus his followers who are deceiving the whole world, into a pit.

I'll go with the bible prediction.

It may last that long, it may end at that time or
it may go on another thousand years or longer.

I believe in what The Lord told us that, "no man
knoweth the hour…..but the Father.."

Definitely, it's in the Bible, the Bhagavad Gita, the works of Shakespeare, Nostradamus and the Koran, even scientists agree.

It might be like 1984 though, which came 17 years later, that would make it 2029.

Dougal McGink says 2011 is the most likely end date, and he won a darts match once, so he can't be called a loser.

i say no all predictions have been wrong

Yes, for sure the Aliens will be here by then.

I say no….. God cares for us so don't be afraid.o.o

I have more chance of dying today than winning the lottery.

One thing is for sure – for several thousand people – 2012 will be their last anyway.

There will be mass panic at various times of that year whenever someone says "BOO" – purely because we'll all be paranoid about it – same as it was in year 2000.

Various Cults will go up in flames I'm sure. – Maybe a few nutters on the loose killing people.

Just keep a basic food stock and bottled water – as there will be periods of panic buying – just like Y2K.

Films like this will just make the sheep more paranoid. – although Terminator is actualy becoming true -

Do you think the world is going to end in 2012?

Is the world really going to end in 2012? It's looking pretty bleak..What do you think?

1. Mayan Calendar

The first mob to predict 2012 as the end of the world were the Mayans, a bloodthirsty race that were good at two things:
Building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone and
Sacrificing Virgins.
Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out. The Mayan calendar predicts that the Earth will end on December 21, 2012. given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it's likely they've got the end of the world right as well.

2. Sun Storms

Solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery: our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic, and it's supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. however, recent solar storms have been bombarding the Earth with so much radiation energy, it's been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse, and calculations suggest it'll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012

3. The Atom Smasher

Scientists in Europe have been building the world's largest particle accelerator. Basically its a 27km tunnel designed to smash atoms together to find out what makes the Universe tick. however, the mega-gadget has caused serious concern, with some scientists suggesting that it's properly even a bad idea to turn it on in the first place. They're predicting all manner of deadly results, including mini black holes. so when this machine is fired up for its first serious experiment in 2012, the world could be crushed into a super-dense blob the size of a basketball.

4. The Bible says…

If having scientists warning us about the end of the world isn't bad enough, religious folks are getting in on the act aswell. Interpretations of the Christian Bible reveal that the date for Armageddon, the final battle between Good an Evil, has been set down for 2012. The I Ching, also known as the Chinese book of Changes, says the same thing, as do various sections of the Hindu teachings.

5. Super Volcano

Yellowstone National Park in the United States is famous for its thermal springs and Old Faithful geyser. The reason for this is simple – it's sitting on top of the world's biggest volcano, and geological experts are beginning to get nervous sweats. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years or so, and we're many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the Earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang.

6. The Physicists

This one's case of bog-simple maths mathematics. Physicists at Berekely Uni have been crunching the numbers. and they've determined that the Earth is well overdue for a major catastrophic event. Even worse, they're claiming their calculations prove, that we're all going to die, very soon – while also saying their prediction comes with a certainty of 99 percent- and 2012 just happens to be the best guess as to when it occurs.

7. Slip-Slop-Slap-BANG!

We all know the Earth is surrounded by a magnetic field that sheilds us from most of the sun's radiation. What you might not know is that the magnetic poles we call north and south have a nasty habit of swapping places every 750,000 years or so – and right now we're about 30,000 years overdue. Scientists have noted that the poles are drifting apart roughly 20-30kms each year, much faster than ever before, which points to a pole-shift being right around the corner. While the pole shift is underway, the magnetic field is disrupted and will eventually disappear, sometimes for up to 100 years. The result is enough UV outdoors to crisp your skin in seconds, killing everything it touches.

"The Mayan calendar predicts that the Earth will end on December 21, 2012."

No… the Christians made that prediction. The Mayans predicted humans would transition into a new epoch becoming more god-like.

Don't you research anything?

The only one I am worried about is the poles changing, as that seems to make more scientific sense, though I don't think anyone can really predict that it will be on 2012.

I think Armageddon is getting close. Get close to God.

OMG, no the world is not going to end in 2012.

maybe if Obama wins, 4 yrs of hell

the mayans did not predict the end of the world, just an end of a calender, mine ends every yr

if true .. classic "moot point"

when god wants it to then it will end

so, what seems to be troubling you?

We will just have to wait an see

No-one truly knows…but if you read the bible…and know the feasts of the old testament…you'll realize they were a dress rehearsal for the real thing and it could be within only hundreds of days!
find out about the feasts and go on NASA web site and look for the eclipses

Well Pam, you seem to have covered it all! miss Doom and Gloom! is your nick-name Jonah? remind me never to go on a ship with you, will you? lol. Have a great day hon!

End no change yes nature looks after its self and we have push it to its limets at present so we will just have to wait and see.
as for the super conductor railgun jobies theres two of them and the thing that worries them is a strangiod I think they call it as the name sugest its dose funny (not ha ha) things that the boffins dont have a clue about but when has that ever stoped them in the past its a case of if it works great if it fails whos going to be around to call em a Bunch of c###s and complain. And then the merkins have HARP just to f### up the ionosphere we are in for fun time all right, just LIVE life and think loving thought what ever happens we wont be going any where just relocating.

probably not. but…the world will end some day, and the universe would be better off without humans. so, it will happen sometime in the future.

Yellowstone will kill us Americans no the world, got the rest make me really depress I just fell like killing myself

The sun was predicate in 2011 but I dont think we are going to die we well just have no energy

The Physicists prediction is not a very possible

Slip-Slop-Slap-BANG! is possible but I don't think It will happen for a while

Probably not.

1. The Mayans not only just ran out of paper, they didn't stick around to see it.

2. The sun has been having storms since God created it.

3. Scientists were convinced the detonation of the Atom bomb would cause a chain reaction and destroy the universe. some of them even believe in Global Warming.

4. The Bible does not give the year of Armageddon. Men have been trying to guess at this for 2000 years.

5. Volcanoes have been erupting since God said "let there be light." They wreck things but not the entire planet.

6. Physicists are scientists. see #3

7. Is a far out theory that even most scientists say cannot happen. And even if it did, the magnetic field would have no effect on the atmosphere which is what protects us from UV light.

Make peace with God so when he does bring about the Biblical prophecies, you will be ready. Even if it is 100,000 years from now.

Well, its a shame that you got pretty much all of your "facts" wrong…
The Mayans only worked out when their then cycle of their calendar would run out. with results no more dire than Jan 1, 2000 was to us.
"Sun storms", well thats false.
The European accelerator is fine.
The bible is nonsense, with many debunked "predictions".
No professional geologist has "predicted" Yellowstone going up in 2012.
No physicist had made such a prediction, either.
And, the magnetic pole shift is nothing like your claims:

At present, the overall geomagnetic field is becoming weaker at a rate which would, if it continues, cause the dipole field to temporarily collapse by 3000–4000 AD. The South Atlantic Anomaly is believed by some to be a product of this. The present strong deterioration corresponds to a 10–15% decline over the last 150 years and has accelerated in the past several years; however, geomagnetic intensity has declined almost continuously from a maximum 35% above the modern value achieved approximately 2000 years ago. The rate of decrease and the current strength are within the normal range of variation, as shown by the record of past magnetic fields recorded in rocks.

So, your grade: F-

Absolutely nothing you wrote is actually true.

1) The Mayan calendar is simply going to go to the next baktun (like our millenia) on December 12, 2012 by our calendar. Remember how cool it was when our calendar went from 12/31/1999 to 01/01/2000 at the turn of the century? That's exactly whats going to happen to the Mayan calendar. Its going to change from 12.19.19.17.19 to 13.0.0.0.0, just as it has done the previous 12 baktuns. There's no evidence to suggest the Mayans expecteted anything more than another new years celebration.

2) I think you might be thinking of the changing of the sun's magnetic poles. The sun is indeed going to flip its poles around 2012. It does this every 11 years. no big deal.

3) The Large Hadron collider is actually doing its first run on September 10, 2008. any black hole created is going to be microscopic and evaporate almost immediately. Collisions of much higher energies hit our upper atmosphere every single day, and we're still here.

4) The religions of the world have all predicted the end of the world countless times. every time, the day has come and gone without incident. There's no reason to think 2012 will be any different.

5) again your taking something out of context and sticking in into the whole 2012 mythology. yes a major eruption is predicted to happen at Yellowstone. but theres no indication that its going to be happening any time soon. certainly not as soon as 2012.

6) see number 5. again, there's no reason to pinpoint 2012. People just take what scientists say out of context and fit it to their own mythologies.

7) wrong. There is no clear pattern of the Earth's magnetic field reversal. It ranges in intervals from tens of thousands of years to millions of years. The last reversal happened about 780,000 years ago. That does not mean that therefore it will happen in the year 2012.

I hope that clears some things up.

The Bible clearly foretells the end of the world. Jesus Christ and his disciples spoke about the time of the end. (Matthew 13:39, 40, 49; 24:3; 2 Timothy 3:1; 2 Peter 3:3; King James Version) however, they did not mean that the earth itself would be destroyed. of the literal earth, the Bible says: “It will not be made to totter to time indefinite, or forever.” (Psalm 104:5) The expression “end of the world” means simply “conclusion of the system of things.”—New World Translation.

" whenever it is that they are saying: “Peace and security!” then sudden destruction is to be instantly upon them just as the pang of distress upon a pregnant woman; and they will by no means escape" 1 Thess. 5-3

What about survivors? indeed, no one needs to perish at Armageddon. The apostle Peter observed: “Jehovah . . . does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)

And the apostle Paul stated that God’s “will is that all sorts of men should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth.”—1 Timothy 2:4.

respectfully,
Simone

Sorry to burst your bubble but only God knows when Earth will be destroyed. God has the date to start Armageddon. The Mayans did not know the end. so I wouldn't worry about it. Live your life instead of worrying about it. Oh yes, the Antichrist is 8 years old now. That's what you should be worrying about.

Is the world really going to end in 2012? no its not

It's looking pretty bleak..What do you think? no the world will not end in 2012.

The mayan calendar does not end but ends a cycle. a new cycle will begin. According to the calendar when cycles end major disasters happen.

The bible gives no year or date for Armageddon. It will not happen in 2012. a seven year tribulation period will happen and at the end of that comes Armageddon. This is 2008 if the rapture happens in 2008 the tribulation begins in 2008 and would not end until september 2015.

Half way point of the tribulation would be March of 2012. The last half of the tribulation would be world war 3.

Sounds right.

As in the days of Noah, some will heed the message, warnings.

Greatlyl written, Data gathering's soooo good.

Loved all you wrote.

Actually it is going to end for humanity b/c I've got a .38 and 12 billion bullets. Your collective asses are MINE !!!! Live it up while you can losers, b/c in 2012 I get to killin'.

Could this world really end? if it did, what would it mean? has a world ever ended before?

A World Ends—Another Replaces It
Yes, a world did end. consider the world that became very wicked in the days of Noah. The Bible explains: “The world of that time suffered destruction when it was deluged with water.” The Bible also says: “[God] did not hold back from punishing an ancient world, but kept Noah, a preacher of righteousness, safe with seven others when he brought a deluge upon a world of ungodly people.”—2 Peter 2:5; 3:6.

Note what the end of that world meant and what it did not mean. It did not mean the end of humankind. Noah and his family survived the global Flood. so did the planet Earth and the beautiful starry heavens. It was “a world of ungodly people” that perished, a wicked system of things.

Eventually, as Noah’s offspring increased, another world developed. That second world, or system of things, has existed down to our day. Its history has been filled with war, crime, and violence. What will happen to this world? Will it survive?

The Future of This World
After saying the world in Noah’s day suffered destruction, the Bible account continues: “By the same word the heavens and the earth that are now are stored up for fire.” (2 Peter 3:7) indeed, as another Bible writer explains: “The world [the one existing today] is passing away.”—1 John 2:17.

The Bible does not mean that the literal earth or the starry heavens will pass away, even as these did not pass away in Noah’s day. (Psalm 104:5) rather, this world, with its “heavens,” or governmental rulers under the influence of Satan, and its “earth,” or human society, will be destroyed as if by fire. (John 14:30; 2 Corinthians 4:4) This world, or system of things, will perish just as surely as did the world before the Flood. Even Jesus Christ spoke about the situation in “the days of Noah” as an example of what would happen just prior to the end of this world.—Matthew 24:37-39.

Significantly, when Jesus spoke of the days of Noah, it was in answer to his apostles’question: “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” (Matthew 24:3, King James Version) Jesus’ followers knew that this world would end. did this prospect frighten them?

On the contrary, when Jesus described events that would occur prior to the world’s end, he encouraged them to rejoice ‘because their deliverance was getting near.’ (Luke 21:28) yes, deliverance from Satan and his wicked system of things into a peaceful new world!—2 Peter 3:13.

But when will this world end? What “sign” did Jesus give of his “coming, and of the end of the world”?

“The Sign”
The Greek word here translated “coming” is pa·rou·si'a, and it means “presence,” that is, actually being on hand. so when “the sign” is seen, it would not mean Christ was soon to come but that he had already returned and was present. It would mean that he had begun ruling invisibly as a heavenly king and that he would soon bring an end to his enemies.—Revelation 12:7-12; Psalm 110:1, 2.

Jesus did not give just one event as “the sign.” he described many world events and situations. all of these would take place during the time that Bible writers called “the last days.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5; 2 Peter 3:3, 4) consider some of the things that Jesus foretold would mark “the last days.”

“Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom.” (Matthew 24:7) War in modern times has been of greater magnitude than ever before. one historian noted: “The first World War [beginning in 1914] was the first ‘total’ war.” Yet, the second world war was much more destructive. And war continues to ravage the earth. yes, Jesus’ words have undergone fulfillment in a dramatic way!

“There will be food shortages.” (Matthew 24:7) following World War I came perhaps the greatest famine in all history. terrible famine also followed World War II. a scourge of malnutrition affects up to one fifth of earth’s population, killing some 14 million children every year. Truly, there have been “food shortages”!

“There will be great earthquakes.” (Luke 21:11) On the average, about ten times as many have died each year from earthquakes since 1914 as in previous centuries. consider only a few major ones: 1920, China, 200,000 killed; 1923, Japan, 99,300 casualties; 1939, Turkey, 32,700 fatalities; 1970, Peru, 66,800 killed; and 1976, China, about 240,000 (or, according to some sources, 800,000) casualties. Surely, “great earthquakes”!

“In one place after another pestilences.” (Luke 21:11) Right after World War I, some 21 million people died of the Spanish flu. Science Digest reported: “In all history there had been no sterner, swifter visitation of death.” Since then, heart disease, cancer, AIDS, and many other plagues have killed hundreds of millions.

“Increasing of lawlessness.” (Matthew 24:12) Our world since 1914 has become known as one of crime and violence. in many places no one feels safe on the

Matthew 24

14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

15"so when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation,'[b] spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— 16then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17Let no one on the roof of his house go down to take anything out of the house. 18Let no one in the field go back to get his cloak. 19How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again. 22If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 23At that time if anyone says to you, 'look, here is the Christ!' or, 'There he is!' do not believe it. 24For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible. 25See, I have told you ahead of time.

26"so if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it. 27For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.

29"Immediately after the distress of those days
" 'the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'[c]

30"at that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. 31And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

32"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: as soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it[d]is near, right at the door. 34I tell you the truth, this generation[e] will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
The Day and Hour Unknown
36"no one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father. 37As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.

42"therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43But understand this: if the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

45"Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. 47I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 48But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, 'My master is staying away a long time,' 49and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. 50The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. 51He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Is the world really going to end in 2012? It's looking pretty bleak..What do you think?

What do you think about the theory 'the world will end in 2012?'?

recently ive heard alot of theories that the world is going to end in 2012. 7 to be precise. Ive read on the internet that scientists are 99 per cent sure about this and expert predictionists predict this too, religious folk also believe this and expert geologists are beginning to get nervous. Apparently a black hole is underway and will be opened soon and this will either save the planet or destroy and kill the planet. If you havent heard about the 2012 theories, research it. what are you views about this???

The Maya were smart enough to predict the end of the world but not smart enough to do anything about it or survive the Aztecs.

Anyways, it fits well with the book of Revelations, so Christians think it is true of course, just like they thought year 1000 would be the end. They've been singing that song for a while now…

NASA has officially disproven "2012." The supposed object that would crash into the sun has not been detected anywhere close to us (or even our solar system), as such an object would be picked up by basic telescopes and space-tracking equipment. also, you forget that the Mayans were simple people, but very intelligent. they invented a lot of things, like the concept of 0 and basic astronomy.

It isn't a theory. it is just wrong.

Nothing of the sort will happen. NO scientists predict it, just nut-jobs in the back waters of the internet!

Do you know how many theories of that kind have been made since memory awakened ? Neither do I. but, I do know that many have been made in the past with poor accuracy… Please, do not fall in this black hole.

it's as true as it was all the other one hundred or more times it was predicted.

Nostrodamus is a false prophet and Mayans didn't want to keep track on their calender anymore so they ended it there.
In 2013, Imma watch the movie 2012 and laugh

Theories are based upon facts, not speculation. as of yet, we have no 2012 theories- just hypotheses.

I doubt it because that's the year I begin to collect the money I paid into Social Security and by God I plan to get back most of it!

i don't think so.they always yap the same thing but nothing ever happens.before ten years they said the same thing but nothing ever happened

Yeah, well, I remember my mom telling me that they said California was gonna be under water when she was little. That was in the 60/70s. It's all bullcrap.

The Bible is Clear..

Matthew 24.36
"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

I've researched it.
I've come to the conclusion that it's fake.

All your "facts" about wide agreement are wrong. It's something a few crackpots believe.

No man is to know the date and hour of the end.

The end of an age, but not the end of the earth.

99.999% bullcrap if it happens and we all die who cares

The world and all inhabitants will die. Just like on 1-1-00

not going to happen but if it does it does

I'm going to wake up on Dec 25th, 2012 and say "FAIL"

… same **** will happen as on june 6th, 2006

we will all die two days before day after tomorrow.

What do you think about the theory 'the world will end in 2012?'?

When does everyone think the world will end? I believe 2012 because of Nostradamus.?

I think Nostradamus and the Mayans came up with December 21, 2012. Does anyone know how they came up with this?

Nostradamus was very skilled at what he did and used the stars and information out of books such as the bible etc. the Mayans also had advance astronomy skills and had mapped out the events in our solar system in their calenders. the mayans believe the end will occur because the sun and the earth will be in the center of the milky way Galaxy which happens to be black hole. they also believe this will happen because what they believe said the universe was created during the first time this event occurred. the hopi also believe the world is coming to an end soon. the bible code is a code in the old testament of the bible which is deciphered by a process called equal distant letter sequence and it also say earth destruction comet 2012. I hope this information helps elaborate on what you know and wanted to know.

According to their prophecies.

In December 2012 Nibiru will finally reach the neighbourhood of Earth and the Annunaki will invade again, hoping to enslave humans again to mine gold for them. Imagine their disappointment when planet X also appears out of nowhere and causes a pole shift, thereby making a really big mess of Earth and probably Nibiru too.

Simultaneously, all the planets in our solar system will align as the Earth enters the photon belt around the seven Sisters, creating a spiritual paradigm shift among humans, passes through the galactic central plane and the Earth, Sun and the galactic centre all line up. This will of course send the Earth spiralling into the Sun, or maybe away from it, or into the galactic centre, or maybe not, just as a solar storm rages up and causes another pole shift on Earth.

Meanwhile, the Earth is being pounded by huge asteroids and all the bees in North America will drop dead, probably killed by swine flu.

If there are other obscure and contradictory prophecies from the outer Mongolians, Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce, the Chinese, the Egyptians, Pitjantjatjara, Calthumpians, pseudo historians and fake scientists or other improbable or impossible global disaster scenarios, they are all just as true too.

Head for the hills, but buy a survival handbook and disaster video first.

Lets get serious for a moment. can you tell me the quatrain in Nostradamus, in the original old French and not faked by someone in the past few years where old Nosty predicted this, or 9/11, or the Christmas tsunami, or World War 1, or anything else at all? no, you can't because the only thing in Nostradamus that can be tied to an actual event happened 7 years before he died.

Every word promoting disaster in 2012 is a dirty lie intended to sell fake survival books, cheap videos and fraudulent "documentaries" to irresponsible TV networks.

It is vicious drivel promoted by liars for personal profit only. if their filty fraud results in the deaths by suicide of anyone at all, it is my intention to encourage criminal prosecution of anyone who promotes these lies, in any country where it can be done.

Let's see some of those fakes and frauds extradited to some flea-pit country and prosecuted for contributing to a suicide. then spending 5 years in a hell-hole prison.

None of Nostradamus' quatrains mention 2012. And none of his supporters can tell you which one specifically illudes to that date. And many of his "prophecies" go out to dates thousands of years beyond 2012. It is a safe bet to say that he never accurately predicted anything. the Mayan calender reaches a round figure in 2012. Nothing more. It is not a predicion dvice, it is a time keeping device. Like your clock or calender. you don't go around expecting the world to end everytime your watch reaches midnight do you? why not, it "ends" then doesn't it?

The 2012 hoax-off has many claims, even quite a few that are self contradicting, and many others that contradict other parts of it.

It is difficult to calculate where it began. It seems several different armageddon's sort of (slowly at first, then faster and faster as of recent months) "merged" into one.

First off, you have the Mayan Calender, (a cyclical calender) that turns over to a new Baktun on Dec. 21 (or 23 to some people's interpretations) 2012. It's the equivalent of a new year's day for them. the calender rolls over, like your car odometer would… and you car doesn't end when it ticks over to a new front digit, does it? the guy to blame for this nonsense is Jose Arguelles. Do a wiki search on him to determine if he has any understanding of archeaology or interpretation of Mayan artifacts, (credentials are lacking, imagination is not). then decide if you wish to believe him or not.

The Planet X nonsense is the concoction of Nancy Lieder. She tried to sell books to "survive the end of the world" when this planet was suppossed to crashinto earth, or cause a pole shift, or whatever… back in 2003.

Since she didn't sell enough books, she republished it, changed the date to match with Jose Arguelles' end of the world, and, VOILA! A new money making machine with zero scientific evidence whatsoever!!! Hooray! A sucker is born every minute… And Ms. Leider wants that suckers wallet. Throw her lil sidekick Mark Hazelwood into the mix, and you have a recipe to confuse people into scaring them into emptying their wallets.

It's a shame if you ask me.

What else?

Zechariah Sitchin's Niburu?

Ooooh, don't get me started. first of all, he misinterpreted an ancient Sumerian artifact. Fudged some dates on some mass extinction periods on earth, and came up with some 2085 date for the Annunaki to come back and get the gold from earthlings that we've alledgedly suppossed to have been mining for them for a few millenia.

Problem is, Sitchin's fake planet was not intended to come in 2012, he claims it will return in 2085 (equally impossible), either way he is upset the 2012ers had no problem hijacking his planet and throwing it into the mix, not that a fake planet will come by no matter what hypothetical year you attribute to it.

Do you want me to continue?
I can certainly go into greater detail, if you would care te delve into it.

You do realize, don't you, that Nostradamus wasn't always correct? also, the 2012 date has more to do with the Mayan calendar than any prediction by him. It, too, is a crock of crap. I plan on attending my grandson's graduation from high school in 2023 so there's no way the world is going to end in 2012.

The Mayan calender ran out of dates, a bit like our millennium bug that never happened in the year 2000.

Nostradamus doesn't say anything about it.

I think you'll find that it's not "everyone" who thinks the world will end- just a few paranoid tinfoil hat wearers.

I guess there will be a few endings.
The wicked will be separated from the righteous
within a couple of thousand years or less.

Because that's how long it'll take to count the votes from the Obama-Palin election (remember 2000?)

…end of the calendar year for the mayans…

Not one moment before God decides.

When does everyone think the world will end? I believe 2012 because of Nostradamus.?

How many of you believe in 2012 end of the world?

Ok. Here's the thing, I want to know how many people believe the world will end in the 2012.

I'll be happy in 2013 when these questions stop, at least until the next popular "end of the world" pops up.

There is nothing to "believe" about it, some ignorant people are make a big deal about the Mayan calendar (of which they only understand that it relates to 12/21/2021) and a bunch more ignorant people think that it sounds true. this shows that our schools are failing miserably at teaching science and cognitive skills.

I believe it will end, but not in 2012. The "end" is preceded by a seven year period, the great tribulations. I don't think it has started yet. "the end" is not permamnent, it is more like remodelling, the way it was done at the time of Noah's flood. The earth is tainted. God cursed the ground when He kicked Adnam and Eve out of the garden. it was further tainted by Abel's spilled blood, after being murdered by his brother. God is going to fix us up with a nice new untainted place, for the next era

Take Heed of Two Ends in the Olivet Dis-Course:
– the end (sunteleo) of the world: destruction (law)
– the end (teleo) to endure unto: salvation (grace)
He taketh away the first, to establish the second
He taketh away the law, to establsih the grace

PST: Destruction -vs- Salvation are "contrary" things.
Contrary things: Law vs Grace: can't co-exist in peace.
Contrary things can only co-exist as an oxy-MORON.

God did not send his Son to condemn (law) the world
God did send his Son to save (grace & truth) the world
Not some condemned/justified, but all justified or condemned
For there is no respect of persons (no partiality) with God
Either way of justified or condemned it's a globe-all matter: the world
Hint: no man is justified by the law in the sight of God

Press DELETE to TAKE AWAY destructive Law … global extinction
Press SAVE to ESTABLISH saving Grace & Truth … global salvation

The end (teleo) is not yet, if still hearing of destructive law sh*t
E-Salvation (grace) is not yet, if still hearing of destruction (law)

So stop making mention of destruction (law),
and start making mention of salvation (grace).

Stop getting off-ended by 2012 end of the world sh*t,
and Focus on the end (of law) that is already written:

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ WITH YOU ALL. AMEN.

I don't believe 2012 will be the end of the world, but some people it will be.

I BELIEVE THERE WILL BE A BIG NATURAL DISASTER THAT WILL KILL MANY PEOPLE.

I PRAY NOT, BUT WE WILL SEE!

GOD BLESS YOU! AMEN! SHALOM!

I'm starting to see this May 21st 2011 prediction swirling around, this doomsday crap is getting EXXTREEEmely tired.

The world will not end in 2012. if it does 2013 is going to be a fantastic year.

I believe the world may end in 2012 but that would not have anything to do with mayans being right it would be dumb luck

Muslims are not believing,

The world is spherical; it will have no end.

nasa warns of 2012 solar storms?
the world wont be destroyed but we sure will be living differently

How many of you believe in 2012 end of the world?

What is a good introduction of how people say the mayan calendar says the world will end in 2012 for a speech?

I am doing a speech and i dont really know a good introduction for it its about the mayan calendar and how people think that they say its going to be dooms day on the last date they have and its pretty hard to write a introduction about

Analyst raises Apple stock prediction from $450 to $540

The latest Needham & Company valuation for Apple.

(Credit:AppleInsider)

Tech analyst Charlie Wolf, of Needham & Company, released an update to his watch of Apple stock, raising his February prediction of $450 to $540 behind the strength of 54 million iPads and 108 million iPhones to be sold in 2012.

Wolf’s analysis shows theiPhone still being the major chunk of Apple’s profits, accounting for nearly 50 percent (value per share). perhaps surprisingly, theiPad is predicted to jumpMac sales bringing in 12.2 percent while the Mac holds at 11.8 percent.

As noted by AppleInsider, the largest increase in value by Wolf’s predictions comes from iTunes, jumping from 3.4 percent to 5.1 percent. Wolf credits “explosive growth in iOS applications sales” for the boost.

How high can Apple’s stock rise given its continued success in the marketplace? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

What will happen in the 2012 London Olympics ?

The US is very likely to stay at no.2 position in the medal table at this year's Olympic. great Britain is doing very well this year. I could see the possibility of great Britain surpassing the Americans in 2012 relegated the US to 3rd spot behind China (no.1) and great Britain (no.2). the US will fight for the 3rd spot with Russia. What's your opinion, don't you think this is possible ?

A lot of countries will learn from this Olympics, like Britain has in the last 2 and now they are near the top of the medal tally.

As it is in Europe a lot of the European countries and Russia will do better. the seppos and China will be at the top again, with Russia third.

Great Britain is still behind in gold medals and not even CLOSE in total medals to the US.

I think China and America will remain on top. I hope Japan gets more medals than this year.

Possible yes but I think US will still be a top competior as well as China beacuse all they do is train train train! But really anything can happen

Lots of people will play sports. some will win and some will lose.

What will happen in the 2012 London Olympics ?

Are we all gonna die in 2012?

so i was bored the other day and i was looking up this website on the mayan people and they made this accurate calander thousands of years ago and it was accurate to what we have today they were really smart they knew alot about the sun and the stars ,etc they would even predict major events that have happened …so there calander ends in 12-21-2012 they say thats when the earth will be destroyed by earthquakes or something with the sun and sunspots or somekind of natural disaster this is one example website http://www.greatdreams.com/2012.htm or google mayan 2012 prediction there are many different sites ….so should we be worried???? im freakin out thats only 4 years away..what do you think?

It is only the end of their calander cycle.
Just like the year is the end of one of our cycles (orbit around the sun.
Just like the day is one of our cycles (rotation of the earth)
etc, etc,
Since their calander is actually quite accurate on different astonomical cycles, I do wonder what this is the completion of?
A galactic rotation? Methinks they knew a bit more than most other 'primitive' people when it comes to astronomy. (NOT astrology or other forms of soothsaying).

The problem with the Mayan civilization is that it doesn't exist anymore. there are no people who can accurately tell the stories the Mayans predicted. Also, the Mayans were slaughtered by a Spanish conquerer, so it is likely that they were unable to make a calendar for the year 2013.

I don't think it's anything to worry about. if the world ends, then the world ends. No drama. It's not like you'll be around to worry about it… you'll be gone to. you get to enjoy the next world or whatever your belief is. if it doesn't, go and eat a big block of chocolate and enjoy the rest of your life. I think maybe the mayans just got lazy or forgot to finish their calendar.

Nah i don't think we all will be dead in 2012. What the mayans say is that there is a time of change coming. People freak out because we are naturally afraid of what's different. I was really interested in the subject just like you, i looked into so many books and the mayans never specifically say that we are all doomed but there is definitley a change up ahead. In fact I can' wait for December 21st 2012!

Sister, if you look for websites that are about a certain thing, then you expect them to say that certain thing, don't you? Do you honestly think a site called "greatdreams" is going to be reputable?

It is trash. every word of it. Trust me. Or pay for the DVDs and buy the T-shirts if you want. On the 22nd, they'll have your money and you'll look dumb.

I thought we all died Jan. 1, 2000

More seriously. there have always been these type of predictions. if something does happen its no good to worry. Just make the best of life while your here. Tomorrow you could be hit by a buss and not even make it to 2012.

well, in all seriousness, im thinkin the only possible way this world could end would be because of all the pollution to the earth causing global warmin, but people are starting to come together and going green so lets hope we save ourselves.

The maiians loved Astrology and thought that when this certain alignment happens, the world would end… That doesn't mean really much, the Earth could end whatever, but it doesn't mean much… We live or die… Personally I believe it's not true

I don't think the world will be destroyed. Maybe, that's as far as they could go. with what they had. So, they just predicted, that this is the end. Maybe, it's just the end of their calendar.

Omg not only are we gonna die, were going to fall on floor laughing while the day passes by.

I have an open heart and will be ready to face my destruction/rebirth when that day comes.

If it passes and nothing happens, I move on.

if that was right its be pretty tight but people also said in 2007 there was suppose to be flying cars like and we still cryin about gas prices!!!!!!!

some ones of us will die as usual this link has no sens

we have only got 4 years left to cash in on all the really DUMB people that will believe any load of #$%^ that we claim to be true, whether it's an old calendar or a carving on a rock. (or a calendar carved on a rock.)

tease them with something plausible, like climate change (hell, every storm will just PROVE you right!), tie it into something one of their own trusted authority figures reinforce, like the Bible… something Babylonian (every good prophecy has something Babylonian)… mention Nostrildamus at least 10 times (even though no one really knows exactly WHAT drug that guy was on and NONE of his stuff makes any sense unless you squint just right at the page)… and SELL SELL SELL!

Remember, we all meet back here on Dec 22, 2012 at Murphy's Tavern… I'm buying.

(and if you believe I will pay, I chose the wrong bunch of grifters!)

Are we all gonna die in 2012?
